Should welfare recipients be spending “their” money on booze and lap dances? Should clubs allow them to use their EBT cards? That story-titled “Sweet Charity”-was the January 7 cover story of the New York Post. The Post, through a Freedom of Information request, showed welfare recipients using their EBT cards to make dozens of cash withdrawals at ATMs inside several Bronx adult clubs, bars and other adult businesses.

As posted on Facebook by industry pro and club operator Drayton Nay: “I have gone before city councils and been spat on by hundreds with signs asking for my death. I have opened a club and had hundreds of Baptist children brought in to form a human line around my club. I have had my house set on fire and been shot at. Please don’t tell me I haven’t earned the right to carry the flag I choose to carry. I have carried the industry flag and the Democratic flag for many years and at great cost.”
