(MONTREAL, QUEBEC) — Scarlett James, a Montreal artist recognized as one of the world’s top burlesque performers, has been invited to appear at the Code 20 closing Grand Prix party in Shanghai, China. The event, which will take place at the prestigious club M1NT, is sponsored by Dom Perignon, Biotherm Homme and the Portman Ritz Carlton Shanghai, is renowned for attracting the elite of the Formula One scene, along with international celebrities.
Past guests at the Code 20 events in Shanghai, Monaco and Montreal have included F1 pilots Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton (McLaren), Felipe Massa and Fernando Alonso (Ferrari), Jerome d’Ambrosio (Virgin), Bruno Senna (Renault Lotus), HoPin (Renault Lotus), Nico Rosberg (Mercedes), Adrian Sutil (Force India), Vitantonio Liuzzi (Hispanic Racing), and Jaime Alguersuari (Toro Rosso), along with international sponsors, team owners and paddock crews from Red Bull Racing, Lotus and other top F1 teams.
The Code 20 has also had the pleasure to welcome Matthew Williamson, Phillip Green and Princess Charlene Wittstock.
“In the 1930s, Shanghai embodied the intrigue, mystery, exoticism and romance of Asia, which still linger today,” said Scarlett James. “The city inspired many artists like Orson Welles and Rita Hayworth, who in turn had a big influence on my work. It is truly a privilege to be invited to showcase the art of burlesque there.”
Scarlett James is the quintessential burlesque artist, inspired by the stars and the artistry of the past, but in constant evolution. Her book, Burlesque: The true art of seduction, co-authored with historian Michel Grondin, has become a reference on the subject. Scarlett James is also the producer of Le Grand Burlesque Show, Montreal’s biggest event of its kind, which aims every year to push the boundaries of the art. The show will take place at the Club Soda, on March 29, 30 and 31, 2012.
Scarlett James is also presently in nomination for the 2012 Arista provincial competition organized by the Junior Chamber of Commerce of Montreal in the Young International Leader in Quebec category.
Scarlett James will be in Shanghai from April 10th-17th, 2012.

La soirée, qui aura lieu au prestigieux club MINT et sera commanditée par Dom Perignon, Biotherm Homme et le Portman Ritz Carlton Shanghai, attire chaque année l’élite de la Formule 1, ainsi que de nombreuses célébrités internationales.

Dans les années 30, Shanghai incarnait l’intrigue, le mystère, le côté exotique et le romanticisme de l’Asie, et les traces y demeurent toujours, a dit Scarlett James. La ville a inspiré de nombreux artistes, tels qu’Orson Welles et Rita Hayworth, qui ont eu à leur tour une grande influence sur mon travail. C’est vraiment un privilège de pouvoir présenter l’art du burlesque à Shanghai.
Scarlett James est l’artiste burlesque par excellence, inspirée par les vedettes et la culture du passé, mais dans une évolution constante. Son livre Burlesque : L’art et le jeu de la Séduction, co-écrit avec l’historien Michel Grondin, est devenu une référence sur le sujet. Scarlett James est aussi la productrice du Grand Burlesque Show, le plus important spectacle dans son genre à Montréal, créé pour pousser les limites de cet art. Le spectacle se tiendra au Club Soda les 29, 30 et 31 mars 2012.
Scarlett Jamesest actuellement en nomination dans la catégorie Jeune leader international du Québec du prochain concours ARISTA 2012, organisé par la Jeune Chambre de commerce de Montréal.
Scarlett James sera à Shanghai du 10 au 17 avril 2012.
