This Saturday night’s live broadcast of the Dr. Susan Block Show will feature fine art, alt-porn, neo-burlesque, Commedia Erotica and other sexual, intellectual explorations of the new erotic bohemia. Joining host Dr. Susan Block in her “Womb Room” broadcast studio will be fellow Yale alumnus (MFA ’01), acclaimed artist (whose work has been featured in museums and galleries from the Whitney to the MoMA) and alt-pornographer Zak Smith Sabbath. Dr. Block calls his recent memoir We Did Porn “A cerebral roller coaster ride of hyper-real, take-no-prisoners brilliance documenting modern ‘porno life’ from the inside out, in the literary traditions of Tom Wolfe on hippies and Jack Kerouac on the Beats. Plus it’s got very cool pictures.”
Across the genre street from modern alt porn, in a more teasing neighborhood of 21st century erotic bohemia, is the world of “neo-burlesque” from which hail our other guests, who will perform on the show, including feminist performance artist/comedienne Malaika Millions, the “charming darling of burlesque” Judy Luck and “The Magickal Child,” raw vegan danger artist Tonya Kay.
