I’ve been in battles many times, be it with grade school bullies, scholastic deadlines, or the Viet Cong. Now into my 17th year of involvement with the Adult Entertainment Industry, current battles are many and some seem considerably ill-targeted, for example; religiously radical and/or self-appointed (fundraising?) civic/business organizations and legislators who seem to think that their God, or the 2010 elections, gave them extraordinary power to reload their shot guns and target politically legitimate porn. Why can’t they instead vigorously go after child porn, terrorists, government ineptness, illegitimate stuff, policies that cost the economy and jobs, and the many other mega matters that America needs targeted like laser-guided bombs?

Also, the continued threat of the USC 2257 monstrosity which seems like a perfect example of a huge and unnecessary record-keeping bureaucracy that seemingly wastes tax payer dollars during these times of huge deficits by using sledge hammers to break an egg, instead of merely querying porn producers by email/fax/letter/etc to obtain copies of actresses or actors date of birth documents should they have any doubts about a film participant not being the legal age of 18 at the time of the filming-this is 2011, and communications can cheaply and effectively replace manpower-heavy teams of federal costly regulation-writers, “researchers” and inspectors.

Likewise, the state of Californian, via its CA/OSHA, is threading into on-set health and safety issues that might well be the straw that breaks the camel’s back and will shut down or severely hinder legitimate Freeman v. California porn-making by requiring barriers such as condoms, and possibly even dental dams, for the same actions that off-set Americans in California privately anticipate in with regularity without CA/OSHA oversight. If CA/OSHA gets to control and mandate job-killing regulations on present day porn sets, might they subsequently be someday mandating and somehow monitoring their regulations in your bedrooms, too?

Will legitimate California porn-making be forced to take it’s jobs/tax revenues and money to other locations, or “underground,” just because it’s the only way to provide condom-less porn and provide viewers with the reality entertainment that so many demand to see? Will (some harsher?) porn from other countries become a black-market in America, further eroding jobs, sale taxes, income taxes, and spendable revenues – will it wrongly connote to some viewers that treating woman roughly/fisting/choking is normal lovemaking? Yikes!

The most worrisome present battle seems to be the Illegal piracy and copyright infringing that’s killing off porn production companies because of the Illegal copying and uploading for subsequent Illegal downloading by the masses of past customers who now “take” porn off of the Internet without Lawfully paying for it. I keep hoping that someone will soon surface with a hack-proof way to embed porn in such a way that it can’t be uploaded or downloaded by the people who are Illegally pirating and/or criminally downloading porn.

Yes, the battles are many, and the outlook seems relatively dismal to me. Now, what I expressed above in merely my personal opinion, but more and more, I’m worrying that porn-making in America is looking like it’s heading towards a hospice situation where recovery is extremely “iffy”. Yikes!

Be well, safe, healthy, and happy.
