Wicked Pictures

(LOS ANGELES, CA) — The 2011 Adult Video News nominations have been announced, and Wicked Pictures is pleased to announce that the company and the lines distributed by it has received an impressive collection of high-profile accolades from the respected trade publication.

The majority of the nominations speak to the variety and quality of Wicked’s in-house productions, while the rest recognize the excellence of outside lines like Video Marc Dorcel, JoyBear Pictures, Abby Winters, and Playgirl. Almost all of the famed Wicked Girls (Stormy Daniels, jessica drake, Kaylani Lei, Kirsten Price, Alektra Blue, and Lupe Fuentes) and nearly twenty of the company’s in-house productions received major nominations, with director Brad Armstrong’s explosive motorcycle adventure Speed leading the way with fifteen. Writer/director/performer jessica drake’s 3 Days in June followed with six nominations, while writer/director/actress Stormy Daniels’ Tori Black vehicle Whatever it Takes earned five. The year also saw Wicked affirming its status as one of the industry’s top creator of adult comedies, with no less than five titles – Couples Camp, Partly Stormy, Sex Therapy, the Vow and What Went Wrong – gracing the Best Sex Comedy category.

Already an AVN and XBIZ Editor’s Choice, Speed emerged as one of the year’s most highly regarded titles, earning recognition in such diverse categories as Best Feature, Best Director – Feature, Best Videography (Francois Clousot, Jake Jacobs, and Mark Nicholson), Best Art Direction, Best Original Screenplay, Best Supporting Actress (Kirsten Price), Best Supporting Actor (Spyder Jonez), Best Packaging Innovation, and Best Group Sex Scene (Kaylani Lei, jessica drake, Kirsten Price, Alektra Blue, Misty Stone, Chanel Preston, Kayme Kai, Tory Lane, Briana Blair, Mick Blue, Dale DaBone, Barrett Blade, Eric Masterson, Marcus London, Sascha and Bill Bailey). Armstrong also earned a place in the Director of the Year (Body of Work) category, as well a Best Actor nomination for 4SOME.

A sterling example of jessica drake’s blossoming skills as a filmmaker, 3 Days in June received accolades in several major categories, including Best Feature, Best Actress (jessica drake), Best Actor (Dane Cross), Best Solo Sex Scene (jessica drake), Best Group Sex Scene, and Best Screenplay – Original (jessica drake).

Stormy Daniels’ provocative Whatever it Takes earned a similarly impressive collection of nominations, including Best Feature, Best Director – Feature (Stormy Daniels), Best Actress (Tori Black), Best Original Screenplay (Stormy Daniels), and Best Double Penetration Sex Scene (Mackenzee Pierce, Billy Glide, and Tj Cummings).

The 2011 nominations also saw veteran contract director Jonathan Morgan exercising his penchant for hardcore humor, with both What Went Wrong and Couples Camp coming on strong in the Best Sex Comedy category. Three other comedies, Partly Stormy and Sex Therapy from Stormy Daniels and Barrett Blades’ the Vow, earned nominations in the category as well. Another director with a long history at Wicked, Mark Stone, received a trio of impressive nominations, including Best Young Girl release for Reform School Girls 6, Best Interracial release for Bet On Black, and Best Ethnic-Themed release – Asian for Asian Eyes.

While many of Ms. Daniels’ nominations spoke to the depth of her talent as a writer and director, her iconic status as a performer was rewarded with a Best Actress nomination for Partly Stormy, while her ongoing mainstream success was acknowledged in the Crossover Star of the Year category.

The outside lines distributed by Wicked performed particularly well, with France’s Video Marc Dorcel securing an impressive seven nominations, and UK based JoyBear Pictures earning four. The popular all-girl line Abby Winters had a similar showing, receiving three nominations, and titles from Playgirl and Zb Ventures were acknowledged as well.

Having received nominations for excellence in the many areas of direction, performance, eroticism and design, Wicked President and Owner Steve Orenstein (who’ll be entering the AVN Hall of Fame – Founder’s Branch in 2011), is justifiably proud of his company’s performance. “I’m very happy to see the depth of our nominations this year. From Brad Armstrong’s big-budget epic Speed, to the strong acknowledgment of the work performed both in front of and behind the camera by jessica drake and Stormy Daniels. I’m equally pleased that all the lines we distribute were recognized as well. We choose lines to distribute as carefully as we choose what Wicked produces.”

From action to comedy, from sprawling epics to intimate couples affairs, Wicked Pictures is built for speed.
