Myles’ Weekend Adventures: Bonjour mon amis! Comment ca va? Myles Shaffer here. This article is about the Miss Exotic USA semi-finals and finals which were held in conjunction with the 2010 Exotic Dancer Gentlemen’s Club Owners Expo.
Since the two events involved, and were attended by, a good number of beautiful, talented, women, I trust that everyone will read on to learn all that they can about the events.
Miss Exotic USA 2010 Semi-Finals
Sunday evening, Steve and I attended the Miss Exotic USA semi-finals, Steve to shoot photos and I to observe and take notes.
The contest was held at Little Darlings Gentlemen’s Club in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Little Darlings is a nice, comfortable club with some great-looking dancers. So, if any of the readers are in Las Vegas with some extra time on their hands, stash the wife at the nearest slot machine, with lots of quarters, and swing by Little Darlings for a little fun. (it the readers in question happen to be women, give the husbands some money and ask a blackjack dealer to babysit them.)
While the contest had several judges, only one judge was introduced to the audience for whatever reason. That one judge was none other than the award winning feature dancer, Vanessa Young!
The mistress of ceremonies was the ever funny and charming, Jade Simone St. Clair, A.K.A. The Naked Comedian. Jade had a co-MC named Shawn; however, I was never able to learn his last name; therefore, I don’t have a clue as to who he was.
To unofficially kick off the show, two lovely house dancers performed a rather unique act. They came out onto the stage with several interesting designs painted onto their bodies with fluorescent paint. Four other house dancers, two on each side of the stage, stood around with squirt bottles, each of which was filled with a different colored fluorescent paint.
The two women on the stage proceeded to perform a very good routine under the regular stage lighting plus a white strobe light and an ultra-violet light.
To finish this performance, the two dancers squirted and poured fluorescent paint onto each other while the four ladies with the squirt bottles of fluorescent paint squirted said paint in high arches onto the two dancers.
One of the squirt bottle cannoneers needs more time on the firing range. The pretty young lady couldn’t hit a bull in the butt with a bass fiddle! By the time the show had ended, she had succeeded in remodeling my editor-in-chief and his camera!
There was no doubt in my mind that Steve was not happy about the situation, but I wish he could have seen it from my perspective. Watching Steve clean his camera, while a pretty waitress cleaned Steve and his clothes, was rather comical. (Chances are, we will be hearing more about this incident from Steve himself.)
Before I go any further, I want the readers to know that under the circumstances, I will only be able to detail the musical numbers I recognized during the shows.
The semi-finalists this year were, in the order of their performances: Roxanne, representing South Carolina, Holiday Haven, representing Wisconsin, Asia, who was in the contest last year, representing Nevada, Princess, representing Texas, Angel Isis, representing Iowa, Ryan Stone, representing North Carolina, and Skylar Rae, representing Illinois.
At the start of the show, Jade introduced Tali De’Mar, the reigning Miss Exotic USA 2009.
Next came a performance by touring feature dancer, holder of many titles, and champion pole dancer, Rain. (Rain is a lovely Asian-American lady with a delightful central Texas accent.)
Rain, wearing a lovely white costume, performed a rather unique and somewhat stylized belly dance. She also displayed some spectacular work on the pole!
Roxanne, the first contestant to perform, wore a red and black ringmaster’s style of costume complete with a black top hat and a long black whip. The outer pieces of her costume were practically made of sequins. Beneath her costume, Roxanne wore a black bra and thong. On her feet, she wore a pair of black shoes with stiletto heels and platform soles.
During her show, Roxanne did a thing with a magical rope and a small, levitating, dancing scarf.
The next contestant, Holiday Haven, performed in a white dress with a one inch wide black stripe around the bottom hem and designs made with silver sequins. Under the dress, she wore a white bra and thong that were decorated with silver sequins. She also wore a pair of white shoes with stiletto heels and platform soles.
Holiday has a talent for actual dancing, and she does some good pole work.
Asia, the next contestant, wore a headpiece that was made up of little gold snakes, a black wristband on her right arm, and a black and white dress. Beneath her dress, Asia wore a black G-string. She also wore a pair of mid-thigh length, high-heeled, black boots with platform soles.
During her performance, Asia did some really good pole work.
Asia was followed by guest performer Tawnie Monroe.
Tawnie wore a black leather motorcycle-style jacket, long black leather gloves, and a long gold skirt with black record discs and black musical notes around the bottom. (Tawnie’s skirt was what they called a poodle skirt in the nineteen fifties. They were called poodle skirts because they had an imagine of a small poodle dog on them.) Tawnie also wore a pair of black-rimmed glasses, a small headpiece, a gold choker, and a small scarf tied around her throat. Beneath everything else, Tawnie wore a black and gold bra and thong. She also wore a gold garter on her right leg, and on her feet were a pair of white bobbie socks and a pair of clear shoes. The shoes were encrusted with glitter and had stiletto heels and platform soles.
Tawnie opened with a fifties-style song, then performed to two songs from the, ”Grease, the Movie,” soundtrack and finished up with, ”The Twist,” by Chubby Checker.
Next up was contestant Princess wearing a black leather boa around her neck, a black bra, and a pair of black thong-like panties. The bra and panties were both decorated with large gold sequins. She also wore a pair of Stiletto-heeled, platform-soled, shoes.
Princess opened with, ”Lady Marmalade, ”by Christina Aguilera, Lil’ Kim, Maya, and Pink.
Contestant Angel Isis performed next with a pair of finger cymbals in each hand and wearing a pink and white genie costume. Beneath her outer costume, Angel wore a bra covered with purple sequins. She also wore red sequined armbands on each arm, and on her feet, she wore a pair of gold, stiletto-heeled, shoes.
Angel was another contestant who had a talent for actual dancing, plus she did some nice work on the pole.
Angel performed to a couple of songs by Shakira.
Next up was contestant Ryan Stone. Ryan wore a black fedora, a white coat with long tails. And a pair of black pants that loosely laced all the way up the backs of her legs from her ankles to her waist. Beneath her outer costume, Ryan wore a red bra and thong set, and under her thong, she wore a red G-string. Her footwear was a pair of black stiletto heeled shoes with platform soles of moderate height and clear straps. With the exception of her shoes, Ryan’s costume was practically covered with sequins everywhere!
Ryan is very limber, athletic, and performs well on stage.
Ryan opened her performance with, ”Puttin’ On the Ritz,” by Taco. This was followed by, ”Zoot Suit Riot,” by the Cherry Poppin’ Daddies. She finished her show with, ”Fever,” by Peggy Lee.
At the risk of appearing to show favoritism, it is my opinion that Ms. Stone had the greatest stage personality of all the contestants. The judges however apparently didn’t agree with me. Although, Ryan did very well for herself.
The next contestant, Skylar Rae, wore a red and black ringmaster-style costume and a black top hat with a red hatband. Her coat had red tails. Beneath her costume, Skylar wore a black leather bra and thong set that was decorated with gold sequins. She also wore a pair of almost knee-length, black leather, flat-soled boots.
Skylar was another contestant who was very athletic. She even amazed the audience, and I’m sure the judges, by doing a spinning, full press, handstand!
Next came guest performer Robyn Foxx who wore a black latex-vinyl costume that was decorated with silver sequins. Her outer garments were a corset and a pair of pants that loosely laced up the backs of her legs thereby exposing diamond shaped patches of her lovely skin. Beneath her outer costume, Robyn wore a bra and a thong that came very close to being a G-string. She additionally wore a pair of almost arm-length gloves. And she wore a pair of stiletto-heeled, platform-soled, shoes with ankle straps.
Following Robyn was guest performer Krystle Cummings.
Krystle wore a short brown wig over her long blonde hair and a red, white and blue Snow White Costume. Krystle’s outer costume was decorated with lots of appropriately colored sequins. Under her outer garments, Krystle wore a bra and a pair of thong panties. She also wore a pair of clear shoes with stiletto heels, platform soles, and gold colored straps.
By the time Krystle performed her show, I was much too tired and sleepy to successfully memorize all the details of her rather complicated costume. Therefore, if anybody wants to know more about said costume, they will simply have to get out to a club to see Krystle perform. Hopefully, they will be able to see the costume for themselves. If not, I’m certain they will enjoy watching Krystle perform and meeting her in person just the same.
During the evening, I was able to say hello to, and chat a little bit with, Tony Batman, of ‘a’ Entertainment, Krystle Cummings, Tali De’Mar, Tawnie Monroe, Rio Rivera, and Jade Simone St. Clair.
I also had the good fortune to meet, and to chat a bit with, Skylar Rae.
Miss Exotic USA Finals
Monday evening, August 23rd, I went to the Déjà Vu Gentlemen’s Club to observe the Miss Exotic USA finals.
Jade and Shawn were the co-MCs again on this night.
The first finalist to perform was Angel Isis.
Angel wore a flight attendant costume that was blue with gold trim. She also wore a gold armband on her left arm. Beneath her flight attendant, ”uniform,” Angel wore a blue bra and thong set that was practically covered with blue sequins. Angel’s footwear was a pair of gold shoes with stiletto heels.
Next up was finalist Ryan Stone. Once again Ryan was very limber and athletic in her performance. And she again displayed a great stage personality.
The next finalist to perform was Skylar Rae.
After Skylar, the next finalist to perform was Asia.
The last finalist to perform was Roxanne.
After looking through last year’s column regarding the Expo, I realized that Roxanne was a contest finalist last year, unless it was another Roxanne. (I really do wish my memory was so good as it once was.)
I have now seen something on the Internet, namely a few photographs, that would indicate that it is the same Roxanne.
Ryan, Skylar, Asia, and Roxanne all unwittingly did me a big favorite on this night. They all four performed in the same costumes and did the same shows, saving me the trouble of taking extra notes and suffering that much more eye strain.
The last finalist’s performance was followed by several guest performers, the first of which was Sondra Saxon, who was a contestant last year.
Sondra performed a Darth Vader type of show in a costume that was entirely too elaborate to go into detail. If anybody wants to know more, they will simply have to go to a club to see Sondra perform, and I do highly recommend that they do so if given the opportunity. Hopefully, they will be lucky enough to see this particular show.
The next guest performer was Tali De’Mar. Tali performed her all pink costume show that I wrote about in late July.
Following Tali was Krystle Cummings who put on the same show that she performed the night before.
Next up was guest performer Rain.
Rain wore a gold dress and almost arm-length, fingerless, gold gloves. Beneath her dress, she wore a gold thong that was practically covered with gold sequins. Under her thong, Rain wore an almost flesh-colored G-string. Her footwear was a pair of clear shoes with spike heels and platform soles.
One of the semi-finalists from the night before, Holiday Haven, did a show as a guest performer.
Holiday performed in a rather small cat costume.
Holiday opened her performance with, ”Stray Cat Strut,” by the Stray Cats.
Aspen Reign, the last quest performer, did her Darth Vader show. The costume for this show is so complicated and elaborate, I didn’t even bother to attempt to take any notes. Once again, if anybody is curious enough, they can go to a club to see Aspen perform and hope they get to see this show.
Aspen ended her show by taking a bath in soapy water and slinging water right and left.
The show ended with the announcements of the winners. And the winners were: Most beautiful face Ryan Stone, Hottest body Roxanne, Hardest body Princess, Hottest buns Angel Isis, Hottest legs Angel Isis, Hottest stage personality Holiday Haven, Pole champion Asia, Hottest gymnast Skylar Rae, Most original show Asia, Best show Skylar Rae, Audience favorite Ryan Stone, Hottest newcomer Skylar Rae, Third runner up Angel Isis, Second runner up Roxanne, and First runner up Asia.
Last but certainly not least, Miss Exotic USA 2009 Tali De’Mar, crowned Ryan Stone the 2010 Miss Exotic USA!
Later during the Expo, I learned that it was no wonder Ryan did so well in the contest and ultimately won the crown.
It turns out that Ryan’s grandmother was a burlesque star by the name of Shere Adaire. Also, her mother, a couple of her aunts, and one of her sisters were all dancers at one time.
During the evening, I finally met my Facebook friend, Leah Bay, in person.
I also met Rain and Jenni Lynn for the first time. And, thanks to Steve Nelson, I finally got to meet Charity McLain.
I also saw and spoke with Tony Batman, Kelly Divine, Sara Jay, Tawnie Monroe and Vanessa Young. I additionally spotted Rachelle Laree in the crowd, but I never got a chance to go over to say hello.
I want to thank lovely Christine the waitress for being so attentive, sweet and kind. I would also like to thank house dancers Daytona and Precious for being so beautiful, nice, and understanding. I would especially like to thank house dancer Jasmine for spending so much time keeping me company before the show started and even well into the show. I had a great time chatting with Jasmine and getting to know her.
If any of my readers where to go to Las Vegas, they should drop in at the Déjà Vu, allow Christine to sell them some drinks, and buy some dances with Daytona, Jasmine and Precious.
That will do it for now. Hopefully, I will be able to cover these events again next year. In the meantime, I will soon be writing about beautiful feature dancers, so let’s all meet back here the next time to see just what I have been up to. Until then, everybody stay safe, have a great week, and live life as if there were no tomorrow!
Bonsoir et au revoir,
Myles Shaffer
