(LOS ANGELES, CA) — At 7:15 the morning of February 09, 2010, ”The Original” Tommy Gunn, (biker Tommy Gunn), was riding to a set, when he went down in traffic and was run over by a semi.
Here are additional details from Gunn himself: ”I was on the 5 south passing Stadium Way coming from the fast lane…” said Gunn, ”But as I was coming from the fast lane the lady in the next lane over STOPPED – just laid on the brakes – then I was skidding the bike sideways and I was going to smash into the back end of her… I tried to go around her and I clipped the right side of the back of her car which just pole vaulted me and the bike down into the next lane.”
Gunn goes on to say, ”I was on top of the bike and it was on the pipes grinding, and I continued on sliding past the bike and my leg swung down into the next lane and that’s when the semi ran me over.”
When he and his bike skidded to a stop Gunn lay in the leaking gas from his bike until paramedics got there and put him on the gurney to transfer him to the ambulance.
”I thought my foot was crushed… but my boot saved my foot from being crushed. Somehow the semi didn’t crush my leg and foot. I have no broken bones.” The driver of the semi did not stop his truck.
Gunn’s right calf was twice it’s normal size though the swelling had gone down from the day before. Gunn will be in the hospital at least one more day. Today he’s getting physical therapy.
