Titbits from The News Rack about AVN’s Expo and the AVN Awards Show this January 2010. It was a hell of a ride!
Twenty minutes after I left to go up to the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo this year, I got a call from one of my new roommates telling me she wanted me to throw the other girl out because they were both throwing each other’s clothes off the balcony and ”she started it”. I told her they should stop acting like a couple of fuckin’ kids and I’d deal with it when I got home. Other highlights from this trip are having a girlfriend with tits the size of honeydew melons invite me to a swing party where a pair of twins and she wanted to see if I could handle three women, and getting knifed in the leg.
The Expo was a bit smaller this year but still one of the best networking opportunities in the business. As far as both the businesses gathered from all over, and the fans who come out to the show, the AVN AEE has always been the best show of the year. Being in Las Vegas at the same time as the Consumer Electronics Show is always a great help, and it shows by how many of the fans are wearing multiple badges from both events.
Kelly Shibari promoted the first party I went to. It was called ”Breasts & Bondage” and was at the Erotic Heritage Museum. Shibari chose breast cancer awareness for her fundraiser because her mother has breast cancer. The fundraiser was sponsored by PaddedKink, PornStarTweet, YNOT, MaXXXimum Network and ReverseTensionz.
Shibari had a midnight raffle where they gave away items ranging from adult DVD packs, BDSM gear, website memberships, collector’s art pieces and more. The ”raffle girls” included Shibari, Moxxie Maddron and AVN December cover girl April Flores, among others. An after-party was held at the Velvet Lion Topless Nightclub until way too late to get up early.
This was the first time I had visited the museum and it’s worth a few hours away from losing money at the casinos to take in all the exxxhibits.
Hillary Hooterz and Mianna Thomas were roaming around interviewing for the show ”Last Call” with the Sport Swami. What beautiful boobatious bookends those babes make! They could keep my motorboat idling all night long!
I ran into VH1’s Frenchy (aka Angelique Morgan) at the Sapphire booth. She looks great with some new pink highlights in her hair – or as she says it with her French accent, ”peeenk highlights.” I had the pleasure of doing a shoot with her a few years ago. I’ll have to release it somewhere down the line so you can see some fresh footage on this luscious French tart.
There were too many great people to mention in one column but I have to mention that mingling in the crowds were Europe DiChan, Angela Summers – who looks fantastic, and Kiki Daire who may be contemplating a comeback.
A.I. Studios had an impressive lineup at their booth too. Ginger Lynn was the centerpiece and it was great seeing her again! Also there were feature dancers Shay Lynn and Jaded Dawn, and the beautiful Veronica Ricci and Emily Parker. Luminaries such as Cousin Stevie and Evan Stone were also signing at the A.I. booth.
I was delighted to find Diamond Jackson was signing at the booth next to PAW. She’s charming! Lori Wagner was signing at the PAW booth and it was nice to talk and get to know her better. Luxury Amore also stopped by to introduce herself and let me know she likes old, bald, white guys. Time for me to get tested!
I was particularly impressed by the AVN Awards Show this year. The venue was, in my opinion, just the right size – not too big like the amphitheater we were in last year. Last year’s stadium seemed to echo with the empty seats and appeared to be a third empty at it’s fullest.
The Palms was the perfect size and had a warm feel to it, as though it was hand crafted to be filled with Adult’s finest Talent. The official red carpet was, as always, the paramount photo opportunity for the Adult Industry. The girl with the most beautiful dress had to have been Gina Lynn this year. And I’m happy to say ”The Gauntlet”, as it was called at the Venetian, was back. Everyone who entered the event walked through the casino and had their time on ”the red carpet” lined with fans on both sides with their cameras.
The show ran smooth and, aside from the occasional flub on the teleprompter, went without a hitch. For a complete list of winners read Myles Shaffer’s account of the event in his column ”Myles’ Weekend Adventure” headline ”MWA: AVN AEE” linked below, or on the AVNawards.com website.
Ok, I’m always confused by the after parties. All week long every party on the Strip seems to tout that they are ”the official” AVN Awards afterparty. It seems I went to several parties, all different, all official, all good, all night. Needless to say I was exxxhausted.
Not too tired to attend the only event I religiously go to each year, however, which was the Legends of Erotica at Showgirl Video on Friday evening January 8, 2010. Inducted into the Hall of Fame this year were Cleopatra of the Nile, Roxanne Hall, Kylie Ireland, Joanna Storm, Peter North and the late Shauna Grant. Debi Diamond inducted Kylie this year, and JoAnna was inducted by her two daughters.
After a great trip I got home to one roommate all tweaked out and on a rampage who left with most of my towels and pillows, and owing me rent. The tweaker had gotten ”the good roommate” fired when she quit her job ”and was leaving and there was nothing I could do to stop her!” (Good. I don’t need someone yelling, ”Stop yelling at me!” at me, and blaming everyone else why she’s such a loser.) The good roomie had to go too since she now owed me a half month rent and had no way to pay.
To re-cap Las Vegas, the twins at the swing party never happened for me because my date dropped her phone in the jacuzzi and couldn’t buzz me in. I didn’t even see those honey dew-sized hooters this trip! And the stab wound? Well, I walked into my friend’s knife. He felt worse than I did! My fault! It was less than an inch deep and only cut meat. Clumsy me!
