Myles’ Weekend Adventures: Bonjour mon amis! Comment ca va? Myles Shaffer here. This time around I will write about what may possibly be the biggest adult entertainment convention in the United States of America, if not the entire world! So, anybody who enjoys reading about beautiful women and really fun events should definitely continue to peruse this particular column.
AVN Adult Entertainment Expo
Friday, January 8Th, I drove to Las Vegas, Nevada, checked into the Orleans Hotel and Casino, went to the Sands Expo Center to pick up my press pass for the Adult Video News Adult Entertainment Expo, and then attended the last two and a half hours of the show for the day.
As luck would have it, I ran into my friend Monica Mayhem, while I was still searching for the press room.
Once my AVN press pass was in my possession and hanging around my neck, and I had my black wristband in place, I entered the convention hall where I saw many people I knew, or had at least met before, including: Julia Ann, Lisa Ann, Phyllisha Anne, Audrey Bitoni, Jaded Dawn, Sophia Dee, Tyler Faith, Ashley Fires, Lupe Fuentes, Nina Hartley, Kagney Linn Karter, Katsuni, Tori Lane, Devon Lee, Sunny Leone, Rebecca Love, Shay Lynn, Kelly Madison, Phoenix Marie, Jeff Mullen/Will Ryder, Jeremy Meyer, Prinzzess, Aurora Snow, Cousin Stevie, and Evan Stone.
The people I met for the first time were: Raven Alexis, Charley Chase, Kayme Kai, Francesca Le, Lia, Lexi Love, Cassidy Lynn, Chastity Lynn, Trisha Mutha Fuckin Rey, Imani Rose, and Eric Swiss.
Shortly after I entered the convention hall, I turned a corner and there was Nicki Hunter and Christy Canyon dutifully conducting their Playboy Radio show and interviewing Hollywood actor Corey Feldman and two women I didn’t know. (I still don’t know who they were, so don’t ask.)
After the convention had ended for the day, my plan was to return to the Orleans, put my stuff in my room, then go to the buffet and pig out.
While I didn’t realize it immediately, my plan began to change the moment I found the owner and publisher of Private Dancer Magazine, Andy Enomoto, standing by the entrance to T.G.I. Friday’s and stopped to say hello. While Andy and I were chatting, we were joined by Andy’s editor-in-chief, Jeremy Meyer, and industry newcomer Cassidy Lynn. After a few more minutes of chatting, the group asked me to join them for dinner, so into T.G.I. Friday’s we went. (I had a Cajun-style pasta entree, and it was good! I’m not accustomed to finding decent Cajun food that far from Louisiana. There simply aren’t very many good Cajun eating places out here in the west. Here in the Los Angeles area, I swear by the Ragin’ Cajun Cafe in Hermosa Beach. It has some of the best Cajun food I’ve ever eaten!)
Saturday, January 9Th, I returned to the convention. The people in attendance on this day that I knew, or had at least met before, were: Monique Alexander, Angelina Armani, Nikki Benz, Chloe, Kelly Divine, Diamond Foxxx, Jenna Haze, Jenny Hendrix, Jesse Jane, Ron Jeremy, Sunny Lane, Shy Love, Devon Michaels, Sean Michaels, Minka, Bree Olson, Powder, Teagan Presley, Raylene, Ava Rose, Kelly Shibari, Kaci Starr, Shyla Stylez, Alexis Texas, Sunset Thomas, Echo Valley and Adam Wood.
The people I met for the first time during this day were: Nyomi Banxxx, Yurizan Beltran, Jenna Black, Codi Bryant, Angelina Castro, Avry Heart, Audrina Hill, Jade Indica, Katie St. Ives, Nika Kay, Lexxxi Lockhart, Mai Ly, Madison Parker, Bobbi Starr, Jayla Starr, India Summer and Victoria White.
AVN Awards Show
How on earth he did it I haven’t a clue, but my illustrious, smooth-talking, editor-in-chief somehow came up with two tickets to the AVN Awards Show. Needless-to-say, he and I attended the show on Saturday night.
While waiting for the show to start, I ran into the reigning Tommy Gunn, not to be confused with the original Tommy Gunn, Dyanna Lauren, Kaylani Lei, [redacted], Rachel Love, Alexandra Silk and Luc Wylder.
After the show had started, I was pleasantly and delightfully surprised to discover that my friends Renee Perez and her assistant were seated in the row in front of me.
The awards show went off without a hitch, was a lot of fun, and good for a great number of hearty laughs. Everybody involved in the show did a fine job. Nobody can do a better job of such things than AVN does!
While I did not catch her name, I want to send out a huge thank you to the lady who was seated on my right during the awards show. Without her help, I’m afraid that I would have missed the winners of several of the awards. (It isn’t easy to take notes and listen at the same time. I really should have studied shorthand when I was younger!) While I will probably never know the helpful lady’s name, I can say that she is the woman who does the merchandising of vibrators for the Adam & Eve company. If she were to read this, she would know exactly who I am speaking of.

Sunday, January 10Th, I once again returned to the convention.
On this, the last day of the convention, in addition to many of the people I had already seen on Friday and Saturday, I came in contact with: Kayden Kross, Magdalene St. Michael, Emily Parker and Nicole Ray. These were all people that I already knew or had met at least once before.
The only people I met for the first time on this day were: Allie Haze, Austin Taylor and Dia Zerva.
Once the event had ended for another year, and I was walking out of the hall, I had the good fortune to meet Claudia Marie. She is a lovely and very friendly woman. In fact, she and I had a nice conversation on the long walk to the Venetian Casino where our paths parted.
I had a great time at the AVN AEE, and I hope that I will be invited back as press next year, and every year after that.
There are a number of industry shows that I doubt I’ll ever be able to attend. They are too far away, and I have too great a lack of spendable money. However, of the industry shows that I am able to attend, and even though AVN bought Erotica-LA from Ron Miller some time between the 2000 and the 2001 event, the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo is, in my personal opinion, the biggest and greatest industry show in existence! It is the one event where a person will see the largest collection of industry people and vendors!
I would recommend that everybody find a way to attend the AVN AEE at least once in their lifetime. It they don’t have a world of fun at the event, there isn’t any hope for them in the first place.
I want to sincerely and emphatically thank the people of AVN for inviting me to attend their convention as press this year. I have now attended the AVN AEE three times, and in my opinion, this was the best one yet! (Being a member of the adult industry press does have some advantages.)
