In the process of completing his third year of writing ”Those Were the Lays” for Swank…William Margold has just submitted a piece that is the perfect example of ”Art Finally Imitating Life.”
At the same time that HBO is airing a comedy series called Hung that deals with the amorous adventures of a well-endowed man and the attempt to ”market his meat” …Margold is recalling his own erotic escapades as Vice President At Very Large of an organization called ”The Hung Jury.”
He remembers that way back in 1979, a gentleman named Sam Frank (aka Taurus) felt that a membership organization needed to be created wherein men— with at least 8 inches—could be contacted by ladies who believed that ”bigger was better.” In fact, on Fridays between 10am-4pm, Margold set-up what he called ”a Lonely Hards’ Club” that operated out of ”Reb” Sunset International, the adult industry’s first great nude theatrical modeling agency, which he managed (from 1973-1985) in Hollywood.
”It was a phone-based dating service that started in Southern California but eventually spread throughout the United States.” Amusingly, Margold would find himself ”filling the needs of ladies looking for a few extra inches of lust, while the rest of their families were seeing if their own hands and feet could fill those of the stars who were in the blocks of cement across the street at the Chinese Theatre.”
Margold’s ”Those Were the Lays” installments in Swank is helping to formulate the basis for what will eventually become a book about his life in XXX called ”Playpen of the Damned: From AVN to Ona Zee.”
