(LOS ANGELES, CA) — For their inaugural event, the Woodhull Freedom Foundation Los Angeles [http://www.wffla.info] is holding a fundraiser in downtown Los Angeles on Saturday, August 15, 2009. The Academy will be the location for ”A Celebration of Sexual Freedom”, with your sex-positive hosts Nina Hartley, Carol Queen and Mistress Shae Flanigan.

WFFLA works to affirm sexual freedom as a fundamental human right. WFFLA fights to protect and advance freedom of speech and sexual expression for all lifestyles and all types of adult entertainment, from the internet to adult nightclubs. WFFLA promotes sexuality as a positive personal, social and moral value through research, advocacy, activism, education and outreach.

Special Guests for this evening of ebullience include, Ms. International Leather 2009, Lamalani, Award-Winning Adult Film Director and Taboo Editor, Ernest Greene and Jeff Booth of Erotic University. Babeland, the Stockroom, Hustler Hollywood and Mikey and Mandy.com proudly sponsor this important event for the newly formed WFFLA.

Those that work in a wide range of sexually oriented businesses, such as adult films, exotic dancing or as a sex worker, and those into BDSM, swinging, polyamory, or any other non-traditional mode of sexual expression, as well as members of the gay community – know firsthand the condemnation that many in our culture direct at them. They may lose their jobs, face persecution or suffer the pain of having their family broken up by the courts. Today, more and more people are beginning to stand up for the right to express their sexuality with other consenting adults without harassment or discrimination. ”a Celebration of Sexual Freedom” brings together all of these communities to embrace their right to live as they choose and support WFFLA in fighting for their sexual freedom.

”A Celebration of Sexual Freedom” will commence at 7:30 PM on Saturday, August 15, 2009. Admission is $35 per person, and is tax deductible to the extent allowable by law for additional information and requests for interviews, call Jim Rea, (310) 454- 6517.

About the Woodhull Freedom Foundation, Los Angeles:

The Woodhull Freedom Foundation, a Washington D.C. based 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, fights for freedom of sexual expression for consenting adults. The organization is named for 19th century activist Victoria Woodhull. Woodhull was a progressive and outspoken nineteenth-century Suffragette who introduced sex- positive values to America during the repressive Victorian era. The WFF continues to uphold the ideals of Victoria Woodhull, working to produce national debate around sex and sexuality, bringing public attitudes and private behaviors closer together, and ultimately fighting to remove the stigmas surrounding expressions of gender and sexuality. The Woodhull Freedom Foundation, Los Angeles is the latest of many local offices in the WFF network.
