Jay Bernstein, the famous manager and producer, who discovered and represented Farrah during the Charlie’s Angels era and then again in 2006- (and our client), retained us to produce a press conference and media campaign to auction Farrah’s red bathing suit (which was and still is in Fawcett’s possession- heirs—
Farrah, Jay, and the lawyers met with us and a plan was made to auction off the famous suit at a very high rate-with portions of the proceeds going to Farrah’s favorite charities. It was going to be a big red carpet event.
Unfortunately Jay Bernstein died of a massive heart attack during the planning of this event in 2006…and shortly thereafter the world was informed of Farrah’s terminal rectal cancer. Not sure exactly where the bathing suit is now. It was in her possession in 2006.
According to AP today the poster of Farrah in the red suit still holds the record of the largest selling celebrity poster of all time. We do know that Jay Bernstein had arguments with Christy’s and Sotheby’s auction houses as to the value of the suit. He wanted 7 figures….they said – much lower.
