(LOS ANGELES, CA) — The Foo Fighters, Chris Cornell, Coldplay, the Jonas Brothers and Jennifer Hudson were just a few of the many celebrities who gathered at the Los Angeles Convention Center Friday night to pay tribute to music industry icon Neil Diamond as Grammy weekend kicked off with the Music Cares Person of the Year charity event.
In addition to the rock royalty mentioned above, Wicked Pictures is pleased to announce that contract superstar Mikayla Mendez was on hand to make the scene both on the red carpet and in the main ballroom, where she greeted Diamond and many other industry heavyweights.
The posh event saluted the legendary singer/songwriter’s many philanthropic efforts, including his relief donations to the Texas victims of Hurricane Ike. When she wasn’t chatting the night away with Mr. Diamond though, Mikayla was busy making the scene with such music luminaries as Chris Cornell, David A. Stewart (the Eurythmics), Pat Boone, the Jonas Brothers, and Meatloaf. Actors making the scene included John Stamos, Camilla Belle (10,000 B.C., when a Stranger Calls), and Linda Cardellini (ER).
While Mikayla was happy to have spent much of her evening with such New Hollywood icons as Camilla Belle, she saves her highest praise for the man who inspired it all. ”Meeting a true music legend like Neil Diamond was awesome,” she enthuses. ”Getting to talk with him while the press took pictures of us was surreal. He was very friendly, and really handsome…”
The Jonas Brothers jumped started the night by performing Diamond’s I’m a Believer, which just may have carried a subtle extra meaning for Mikayla Mendez in light of the new friendships she forged over the course of the evening. To learn more, click here to visit Wicked.com.
