Larry Flynt Plays it Close to the Vest
(BEVERLY HILLS, CA) — Mogul. First Amendment Crusader. Agitator. Those and, yes, many other words have been used to describe Larry Flynt. Those in the gambling world also know him as an international poker threat. Flynt has played in or sponsored prestigious tournaments including the World Series of Poker, the Grand Slam of Poker and the Poker Challenge Cup. He loves the game so much he owns his own casino.
Now in the March issue of his flagship magazine, the Hustler publisher and renowned ”whale” talks about his love of the game and his keen eye for cheaters.
”My favorite poker experiences are when most people can’t afford the game, so I can intimidate them,” Flynt says, ”I can make them lay down really good hands because they’re scared to lose that much money. There’s an old saying: ‘A jealous hand can’t love and scared money can’t win.’ I usually pull off some good wins because I never go into poker jealous or scared.”
But for every good hand there’s always the chance a cheat will try to wreck the game. ”I’ve caught people looking at my cards and just tell them that they’re at the wrong place if they think they can get away with that,” Flynt warns, ”If they get caught they’re gone.”

No Guts No Glory: A Green Beret’s Legendary Mission
1968 was a watershed year as far as the American fight in Vietnam went. The shocking scope of the Tet Offensive made many stateside wonder if this thing could actually be won. Jim Bolen had other concerns. Like staying alive.
The Green Beret had volunteered for a special, highly classified mission in Cambodia: Infiltrate the area and install a permanent wiretap device on a line running between two large enemy units.
Bolen and his partner were rigged to their infiltration copter by 250 foot rappelling ropes with sandbags on the end (to break through the jungle canopy). The plan called for them to be dropped between the two camps, install the tap and pull out with the North Vietnamese Army being none the wiser.
That was the plan.
Bolen tells the March issue of Hustler magazine what happened next. ”As soon as we hit the ground, all hell broke loose. The chopper pilot had miscalculated. He had dropped Lieutenant Kroske and me right in the middle of an enemy unit.”
With enemy soldiers grabbing at them, enemy fire peppering their copter all while being dragged through the jungle at 60 miles per hour at the end of a rope, you might say things weren’t looking very good for Bolen.

Porn Starlet Drives Classmates to a Degree in Distraction
Charley Chase isn’t her given name. And she knows if either the faculty or fellow students at her small Atlanta college use it they know. They know that she’s more than just another fashion design major. They know she’s a porn star.
”After just one student found out I was in porn, the rest of the school knew within days,” Chase tells the March issue of Hustler magazine, ”I’m talking about the entire administration, the faculty and even some parents.”
Chase says most students are fine having a real, live porn star in their midst though she says she does get the usual questions from her guidance counselor.
”[She] pulled me into her office one day, asking me things like, ‘is everything okay at home?’ and ‘is anyone making you do this?’,” Chase says, ”My only response to her was, ‘I love my job!’”
Despite the obvious distractions, Chase says she’s serious about her studies. ”I would love to combine my knowledge of fashion design with my involvement in porn”, she says.

A pediatrician by training, Caldicott says the financial cost is the least the United States, and ultimately, the world will pay for nuclear power. She claims industry statistics ignore a raft of factors from environmental to medical.
According to Caldicott, the litany of nuclear woes includes, ”transportation and storage of radioactive waste for half a million years; the cancers and leukemias for the rest of time – none of those are factored in.”
