Once in a while an event will come along that is significant in one’s life. A crossroads, a milestone, a plateau if you will, that one regards as a satisfying achievement and worthy of pride. The ”We are the World XXX” shoot this past June 11 and 12 was one such event for me. I had the privilege of serving as Head Production Assistant.
I met Henri Pachard back in 1992 when my now X-wife, Vicki, and I were extras on the set of a John Leslie film ”Anything that Moves”. Henri was the PA (production assistant) for John on that shoot. I saw Henri in action back then helping a friend on his production.
Then, in 1993, Vicki and I were extras on the set of ”Sex Ranch”, shot at Henri’s house in Van Nuys. It was a hot day and we would sit on the patio in the shade in the back and talk while the air conditioner cooled the house and whisper quietly when it went off and we heard ”QUIET!… ACTION!”
I got to know Henri as a good-natured, energetic, creative man who was always was genuinely interested when he talked with you. Two examples of his humor that stand out in my mind were his chastisement of Vicki for wearing pantyhose on a porn set, and the time at the Night of the Stars – a formal affair – where Henri emerged from what I thought was a solid wall of shrubbery next to me, wearing a tuxedo, while I was standing there talking to a starlet and exclaimed in Vaudvillian-fashion, ”Where the hell’s the bar in this place!”
Now Henri is dying of cancer. The call went out early May, 2008 when Mark Kernes of AVN alerted the adult community that Henri was having trouble with the bills that frequently mount during a serious illness. Amber Lynn read the call for help and resolved to gather those among the family of X who had been influenced by Henri and give something back. …And there is literally a legion of people positively affected by Henri Pachard wanting to give back.
Thus was born the idea for the movie ”We are the World XXX” who’s sole purpose is to raise money to cover the bills for Henri Pachard. Everyone involved donated their time and talents. As Amber said, ”We did a one hundred fifty thousand dollar movie on a $1.98 budget”.
Produced by Amber Lynn and Bill Margold’s Protecting Adult Welfare Foundation, ”We are the World XXX” credits some of the greatest adult stars of all time with appearances and cameos by Georgina Spelvin, Ron Jeremy, Porsche Lynn, Randy Spears, Stephanie Swift, Cara Lott, Ona Zee, Paul Fishbein and Larry Flynt to name a very few. Behind the cameras were other notable greats, as well as a who’s who of technical staff.
The movie is an actual portrayal of the call to arms and rallying of the Industry to the aid of Henri in his time of need. Scenes were donated by legend talent and directed by top names in the Business. Amber Lynn was director of the project with segment directors, directing their own scenes, Brad Armstrong, Ron Jeremy, Porsche Lynn, Michael Ninn, John Stagliano, and Paul Thomas.
