Among professional/performance Doms in the fetish community, one would be hard pressed to find an equal to Master Arcane in terms of knowledge, style and experience. Currently he operates several websites devoted to education and discourse regarding BDSM among other topics (see end of article for list of sites.) Master Arcane also appears at various events with a submissive or slave, performing very elegant and beautiful displays of BDSM arts.
Like most lifestyle fetish players, Arcane discovered his penchant for BDSM at an early age. He recalls as early as five years old he’d insist on incorporating hero/villain play into games to create the opportunity to tie up the girls among his playmates. Arcane does mention that he ”always liked playing the villain role a little more.”
As Master Arcane came of age he began studying stage performance, particularly Shakespeare (he cites his theatre background with providing him with his blocking and presentation skills.). Simultaneously he was learning a great deal about Dominance and submission from very established performers while in Europe. Everything came together for Arcane later in San Francisco while performing weekly shows at Bondage a Go Go with then-slave Jasmine.
Arcane had the privilege to belong to a ”very hardcore, invitation only” BDSM society in San Francisco at the time. Participants in the society and his peers treated BDSM like an art form, which definitely agrees with his approach. While ”scenes you do in private will Always be more passionate and deeper,” He is committed to using performance to transmit to the audience the ”love, connection, sensation, interaction and romance” present in a scene. Having had several dozen slaves over his lifetime ranging from short contracts to a majority of multi-week training sessions and 24/7 D/s relationships spanning years, Arcane has a wealth of experience from which to draw.
Master Arcane loves to add a sense of wonder and theatrics to his performances. One of the ways this is achieved by Master Arcane is through the use of masks onstage – both he and his submissive performer wear them (either theatrical masks or gasmasks) in order to depersonalize themselves and create more of a surreal, anonymous vision of what BDSM can be. In over 1000 shows, Arcane has had a submissive use a safe word on only two occasions. He fosters communication via the use of hand signals displayed by the sub, telling him whether they want/can take more intense punishment, are at just the right level, or need him to diminish the intensity.
Master Arcane’s knowledge springs from many sources and a truly varied background. He has studied Tantra (a set of practices originating from Hindu beliefs that serve to channel the practitioner’s sexual and sensual energies in specific ways) since he started having sex. According to Arcane, the Tantric school of thought allows the practitioner to ”push [their] energy to the ninety- ninth percentile without going overboard and having it drain away.” his life has always been a nomadic one, carrying him from California across the U.S., through Europe, Asia, and now to Australia where he currently resides. Past careers have included Scuba instruction, the California Department of Tourism (where he managed to win the right to have the longest hair of any government employee with a security clearance), owner of his own video company (”never did a single wedding video”) and currently he pursues a life coaching career, as well as his continuing BDSM instruction and performance art.
How did Master Arcane acquire such a unique name? Great back story – it was given to him by a Dominatrix Voodoo priestess during a trip to the hills. As the Voodoo priestess explained to him, the name traces back one thousand years to one of the three original progenitors of an ongoing secret society dedicated to hardcore, ritualistic BDSM and the D/s Arts.
Arcane is welcoming the current era as a time of increased acceptance of fetish among the general public. He has even been asked to play at Zoomanity, the Las Vegas Cirque du Soleil presentation (they later got cold feet and withdrew the offer.)
Master Arcane has found the worst hotel room of his life to be located nearby in the Margaret River area of Australia. The ”hospital yellow” walls, generally crappy environment and expensive room rate combined to leave him somewhat less than impressed.
As one would expect, this man with a penchant for not only very healthful eating but varied life experience had some interesting thoughts on the most unusual food he’s eaten. One cited is Bittergot, a Chinese green that ”tastes like aspirin,” served to him by his former slaves’ mother. ”This isn’t for people” was his most immediate reaction. The other is the tropical fruit Durian. Looking like a ”slightly deflated, shrunken, spiky basketball,” it tastes reasonably good if one can get past the ignoble appearance as well as an odor akin to that of Limburger cheese.

He’s extremely knowledgeable about all of them, and an incredible source from which to draw for any fetish lover regardless of skill or experience level.
