Satine Phoenix

Satine Phoenix is amazing – smart, creative, incredibly beautiful, nasssty and down to earth. Currently working as a fetish and mainstream adult model, Satine is on a career with the trajectory of a missile. She’s worked for the likes of Vivid Alt, Club Jenna, Playboy TV, Showtime, Evil Angel, Red Light District, Zero Tolerance as well as the usual San Francisco suspects and LA’s DungeonCorp. We spoke at the San Francisco Fetish Ball (right before she flogged my escort, hahaha) and Satine was kind enough to answer some questions for Adult Industry News.

-If you weren’t doing fetish modeling/performance, what would you be doing for a living?

I’d be painting. I love illustrating the female figure. I’m slightly obsessed with it. So many curves. I can say things in a painting that might come out awkward when written or spoken. I would also be life coaching. I’m fascinated with turning people’s lives around. I’m a pretty positive person where I used to be very self destructive. I changed my entire world through eating right, exercise and positive thinking. So, that’s what I would do for someone: Be their personal trainer, nutritionist and life coach. That way they can become healthy inside and out which is important to sustain happiness.

-What do you enjoy doing during your leisure time?

I’m not too familiar with this term: Leisure time.

-How did you get started in the adult entertainment industry?

I was a programmer and one day decided that since I’ve wanted to be a stripper since I was 16, I should just do it. So I did. I left my old life behind and started stripping. I couldn’t just strip though. I need to go higher, do more, make more money, so I came up with a plan and slowly worked my way to where I am now. I’ve still got a long way to go before my plan is fulfilled.

-You’re also a lifestyle player…which came first – personal or professional submission? In what ways do the two differ?

I started dabbling into BDSM in high school, very lightly with an ex-boyfriend. He’d take me to this fetish club called Biomech in Sacramento. I don’t think its around anymore. But there I got my first taste of it. Then years went by where I was with very vanilla men, but I’d always ask them to choke me or put a pillow over my face or something slightly kinky.

Then after a while of being with Barron Wood, we decided that we would take our swinger-dom to new levels. We read a lot of BDSM books and would play a little bit here and there. But I started demo modeling for Chanta Rose’s classes and my kink took off whereas he was still reading about all of it. I met more and more people who gave me my dose of pain endorphins and he was left to the books and hearing my stories. So, trying to live it and learn it at a different pace as my ex was very hard.

Then I met Master Arcane (ClubIniquity.com) who had a lot of experience in S&M, especially in Domination & Submission and he just swept me off my feet. The difference between professional and personal is the connection, the time spent together, the trust that is built, the intimacy and sexual buildup are WAY more intense in one’s personal life. The more we played the closer we got and the farther I wanted to go.

The duration of how often we would play made things even more intense. Playing for a couple days as a sub was different than 3 hours as a sub which is different from 3 weeks, and 3 months etc… I was not sure what I was getting myself into, but I did love the adventure of it. I explored a part of me that did not exist before: Submission.

Submission on film is a temporary part that one plays and at the end you go back to your reality. Submission in life, in a 24/7 relationship is MUCH more intense. I am a Switch now, Mainly a masochist so I play the part of bottom often, though lately in my personal life I have been topping like crazy. Topping and bottoming correlates to Dominating and submitting, but topping is not necessarily Doming (and) bottoming (is not necessarily) submitting. I do love to submit on film because I know that I am working with people who have the experience and have ”trust references”. I do miss the intimacy that Master Arcane and I shared. I’ll never be a lifestyle slave again, but appreciate the opportunity that I was given to experience it.

-I noticed that you have an affiliation with Cybernet (the precursor to Kink.com.) do you currently model for them? Twisted Factory? Any other bay area companies?

I started working with Chanta Rose before she made Twisted Factory and I’ve been working with Cybernet (Kink.com) for a couple of years as well. Both of which are fantastic companies. (though no one knows how to slap a face like Chanta!) I wish I could work for both of them more, but with the fact that I do (mainstream) porn and can’t be bruised I cant do it very often. I Really want to work with HouseofGORD.com (I know they’re not bay area, but I really really want to go there!)

-What advice would you give to a new model starting out in the industry, whether it be mainstream adult or fetish?

I’ll say what was told to me: Shoot a Lot! Start with modeling, get used to the camera. Learn what poses look good, practice in front of a mirror. When setting up a shoot with someone off of a site ALWAYS ask for references. I’ve never had a problem, but I’ve always asked for references. Do not let anyone push you further than you want to go, and don’t do things you will regret later. Really think about what you are getting yourself into, then own it because you cant take it back once you do it. For anyone that wants to be a fetish model: start taking 2000-3000mg of vitamin C with rose hips (bioflavinoids.) It will make the bruises go away Much faster! Last but not least: Get Your HPV Vaccination.

-You are also an illustrator…what is the nature of your work in this field and where can it be seen?

I paint the female figure. I am obsessed with rhythm and fluid motion of the curves of a female figure. When I paint it is like I make love to my canvas. I direct all of my attention to it and feel every brush stroke. One of my favorite things is performance painting. It doesn’t produce the detailed style that working on a painting over a month does, but you can feel the raw intense energy that is produced. Basically I work on a 7ft x 72 inch canvas at a party/club and through feeding off the energy of the crowd and DJ. I Paint for 3 hours or however long the club is open. You can feel/see the rhythm in the painting, and its completely finished after the few hours. Its intense, but so am I. You can see some of my sketches and paintings at SatinePhoenix.com or at DeviantArt.com.

-You’ve also listed Sassykiss as a company you operate. Please talk a bit about that.

Haha… Sassykiss. Its the first website I ever created when I was 15, unfortunately someone bought it after my registration expired. The lips on the back of my neck are the logo. The top lip is an S and the bottom lip is a K. I have big plans for my world and it all is under the umbrella of SASSYKiSS.

-Are there any other venues for your work that you’d like included in the article?

I’d like to encourage people to look into Tantra. I practice it alone, with a partner and during S&M. Its just the next level of intimacy and I highly recommend it.

-Where do you see the industry as a whole going, say, in the next 5 years or so?

I’ve been hearing that people are liking more story lines, more natural breasts… But haven’t they been saying that for years? What I do see picking up is Clips4Sale.com. Things seem to be going more digital and better quality. Gonzo is still in, but the quality of your porn will be changed due to HD.

-If you had a magic wand, what would you change about the industry?

Oh that’s a Fantastic Question! If I had a (Hitachi) Magic Wand… I would make it make Magic Wand babies and I’d give it to Every person in the industry and make them use it in all of the films…. Now that would change the industry. (I keep one in my computer bag, which goes everywhere with me.) Also I would have STD Tests more often and check for more than what they check for at AIM.

-What is the worst hotel room you’ve ever been in and why?

I’m going to say this because its fresh in my mind. I’ve been to all sorts of hotels, ones with bugs and broken walls and ones with fancy furniture… But if your hotel has a no party policy… And the rooms cost $400.00 a night. You should tell people, especially if they get a big suite that seats 20. So, that was the worst hotel room I’ve been in. Though I did get some really good photos in it.

-What is the strangest food you’ve eaten?

I love live algae. E3Live is what its called. That’s pretty weird I guess. I love health food like spirulina and wheatgrass. But I want to try Plankton. I hear amazing things about it.

Satine can be seen on all of the labels listed above as well as every Tuesday night from seven to eight PM PST on Baadmaster’s Dungeon”, back by popular demand on RudeTV.com. Keep an eye on Satine Phoenix, this lady is on her way to great things.
