(JOHNS CREEK, GA) — Johns Creek was given more money than any other newly incorporated city ever in the state of Georgia. Upon incorporation, Mayor Mike Bodker was given more power than any other Mayor in the state of Georgia.

And here we are, more than 14 months after Johns Creek became a city on Dec. 1, 2006 and Mayor Bodker has failed to build either a Fire Department or Police Department for his tax paying citizens of Johns Creek!

Another fire took place in Johns Creek yesterday; this was the third home fire in the subdivision of Rivermont in the last four months. This does not include the countless other fires that have taken place in Johns Creek that have cost Johns Creek residents their homes and unfortunately for some, their lives.

According to Lt. Greg Chambers, Fulton County Fire Department’s public information officer, Fulton Fire Rescue Engine Companies No. 8, 12 and 20 responded to the fire yesterday in Rivermont, along with Roswell’s Engine Company No. 4, and Fulton County’s Light and Air Unit 8 and Battalion Chief No. 4. Sawneee Electric was also at the scene to manage any downed electrical lines in the area. Yet there were no Johns Creek fire trucks to show up to the fire in Johns Creek.

According to a January 17 press release on the official City of Johns Creek website (www.johnscreekga.gov) the city hired its first Fire Chief, effective January 28, 2008. But according to the same press release, the new Fire Chief and Johns Creek do not expect to have its Fire Department operational until at least August of this year. This would be a full 20 months after the city of Johns Creek incorporated.

To date, the Cornetta Charitable Foundation has raised nearly $3,000 and has held three different fundraisers to assist the city of Johns Creek in developing a Fire Department. John Cornetta, owner of the Love Shack stores, has also donated more than $2,000 of his own money.

Cornetta said, ”This is getting out of control now. I remember the cry for Johns Creek to become a city. It was always ‘oh we’re tired of paying all of these taxes for South Fulton and to keep Grady Hospital open’ things like that. The city of Johns Creek was formed and what is one of the first things this mayor does? He raises taxes and lowers basic services!

”He builds himself a town hall with nice new furniture, hires out of state legal advisers as basically hired guns, and with totally disregard to human life forgets basic services like fire and police protection. I swear this man could not manage a chicken coup. What has he ever done in his life to prepare him for this job? What? Nothing, that’s what. And his complete incompetence and arrogance are costing lives and it is beginning to piss me off.

”Mike, why don’t you spend a few more dollars attempting to close the Love Shack as obviously consenting adults watching a DVD in their home is much more dangerous to the citizens of Johns Creek than not having fire and police protection.

We have to ask Mayor Mike Bodker the hard questions. With now more than $150,000 spent by the city on out of state attorney’s and other costs, could Johns Creek have formed a fire and police department? The answer is yes.

It’s time to impeach Mike Bodker now as an incompetent puppet of a few elitists in Johns Creek.”
