(LOS ANGELES, CA) — Last Friday, Warner Bros. presented the latest version of Richard Matheson’s post-apocalyptic sci-fi classic I Am Legend, with Hollywood megastar Will Smith delivering a poignant performance closer in kind to Matheson’s prose than such previous adaptations as the Omega Man and the Last Man On Earth. And interestingly, one of the new movie’s most talked-about moments finds him sharing screen time with some of the latest and greatest hits from Canoga Park-based adult industry powerhouse Wicked Pictures.
The scene in question was initially reported over the weekend by the aptly named Scene-Stealers.com, who raved that “scenes of Neville [Smith] going through the motions of renting a movie at the local video store are priceless. He wanders through the store, browsing for DVDs and talking to mannequins that he has strategically placed there to give himself the feeling of companionship. Smith carries these scenes with a unique mix of humble humor and sadness, and its impossible not to laugh, however grim his situation may be.” the somber tone of the scene is enlivened by the fact that the two shelves of movies behind Smith are liberally stocked with such Wicked gems as Gossip, 3 Wishes, One Night in Vegas, Flashpoint, and Dream Quest!
And if the opening-weekend box office tally is to be believed, Wicked Pictures couldn’t have picked a better holiday release to showcase its product. I Am Legend has officially made box office history, earning $76.5 million and flying past such previous seasonal champs as King Kong and t he Lord of the Rings trilogy to become the biggest December opener in history.
So take a trip to your local multiplex and enjoy I Am Legend. As Hollywood.com has noted, “this movie is will Smith’s one-man sci-fi thrill show, entertaining in all the ways we’ve come to expect from the talented actor.”
And perhaps in some ways we hadn’t expected, thanks to the presence of some very wicked product!
