(LAS VEGAS, NV) — Classic Golden Age distributor VCX dominated the Best Classic DVD category with three nominations. “Debbie does Dallas: Definitive Collector’s Edition,” “Devil in Miss Jones: Definitive Collector’s Edition” and “Insatiable: Definitive Collector’s Edition” put VCX at the head of the pack for nominations in the Best Classic DVD category.
David Sutton, president of VCX, said the longevity of these titles – and the rest of the company’s film library – is amazing. “We have younger customers who want to see the movies they’ve heard so much about,” he said.
The exhaustive efforts in the restoration of the titles in VCX’s library ensure consumers have the best experience with their movies, Sutton said, and it’s a factor for the company’s showing in the Best Classic DVD category.
“The film and associated development costs alone used in the production of most of our Golden Age classics are three to five times the expense of most of the top tier gonzos being shot today,” he said. “Add to that $100,000 cameras and setups which took a day to prepare with lighting and props, and you see why there was such attention to detail. When that much money is on the line, you tend to be anal about the production. Little mistakes always resulted in another take. Our fans, both young and old alike, love the experience of watching an adult feature shot like a big-budget Hollywood movie.”
The same attention to quality and compelling story lines also appear in the new, yet-unnamed-feature from VCX and Roy Karch Productions, currently slated for release in early 2008.
Sutton said the company will bring the production values, the story lines and the action that made their movies the best of the Golden Age to the new project. It will be a feature fans of the classics will love.
“We’ve had a lot of success in this category, especially with the advent of the new nonlinear editing systems and a telecine company we have been using. We won the 2005 Adam Film World award for Best Classic DVD with ‘the Dancers,’ Vanessa Del Rio’s biggest title. In 2006, we won both the AFW and AVN awards for Best Classic DVD with Cecil Howard’s groundbreaking film ‘Neon Nights.’ with the overwhelming success we’ve seen with the newest three nominations, we expect to continue our dominance of this genre”
The AVN Awards Show will be held on Jan. 12, 2008 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
