Empire Video Distributors president Roy Karch has announced the creation of a new company, Pacific Coast, Inc., a wholesale distribution channel with an international scope.
Pacific Coast aims to give manufacturers a boost by gathering them under one roof and managing all aspects of their wholesale DVD distribution, including warehousing, sales, invoicing, shipping and collections, thereby allowing them to make the best possible movies while cutting costs and maximizing profits.
“By outsourcing their distribution to us, manufacturers can reduce their operations and overhead costs,” said Karch. “In this current climate, with the changes our industry is experiencing, that could be the difference between sinking and swimming”.
A major plus for PCI’s stable of production companies will be an experienced sales staff the likes of which they might not otherwise be able to hire on their own. To that end, Karch’s first order of business was to hire industry veteran Craig Jelin as Vice President and General Manager. Jelin has eighteen years of adult experience, including over a decade with Flynt Distributing, where he served as National Marketing Director. At Flynt, Jelin was closely involved with the retailing of consumer magazines such as Hustler and Barely Legal. In 1999, he was promoted to Director of Sales for Hustler Video where he was responsible for all facets of wholesale video distribution and sales. Most recently Jelin was Vp of Sales and Marketing for Pure Play Media where he oversaw the distribution of such studios as Private, Score, Naughty America and Swank.
“Pacific Coast is ideal for manufacturers who can’t afford to spend their precious time and resources on housing and moving the product they make,” said Jelin. “We are going to free them up to concentrate on production while benefiting from our streamlined shipping operations, hard-won sales expertise and consortium-style distribution model.”
“Getting Craig on board to launch Pacific Coast was a major coup,” said Karch. “There are few players in our industry with the kind of experience, relationships, savvy and skills that he brings to the table.”
Also joining the team as National Sales Manager is Ed Kail. Kail began his career at Caballero, spent over twenty years at VCA, and has also sold for such companies as Elegant Angel and Devil’s Films.
“What can be said about Ed that hasn’t already been said?” wondered Jelin. “He’s one of the great characters and great salesmen in porn and we’re fortunate to have him on the team.”
Kail’s most recent job was as National Sales Manager for DVSX and XCartel, two lines that PCI will represent out of the gate. Other studios signing on with Pacific Coast include No Limit, a scorching new Gonzo company featuring extreme XXX sex; Spitfire, a hot new fetish line boasting the world’s most celebrated names in domination and submission; and Kimberly West Productions, whose Hd Girl-Girl releases feature name starlets such as Penny Flame, Tiffany Sweet, Roma and Hollie.
