(HOLLYWOOD, FL) — On Saturday, May 5th 2007 at 8:00pm, the Coastal Championship Wrestling presents a night of wrestling to benefit the Sergeant Sottile Scholarship Fund at the Highlands County Fairgrounds. Superstars scheduled to appear include legendary Superfly Jimmy Snuka, former WWE champion Dustin Rhodes – aka Golddust, Phi Delta Slam, and X Rated superstar Summer Haze.
Sergeant Nicholas Sottile was shot and killed while conducting a routine traffic stop on Friday, January 12, 2007, in Highlands County, Florida. During the stop one of the two occupants produced a handgun and shot Sergeant Sottile in the chest.
Despite being fatally wounded, Sergeant Sottile was able to notify dispatchers that he had been shot. He was transported to Florida Hospital Lake Placid where he was pronounced dead approximately one hour later.
Sergeant Sottile had served with the Florida Highway Patrol for 24 years and is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, and two children, Nicholas and Heather.
