(LAS VEGAS, NV) — Adult journalist Joe Zigfield (Aka “Rio Joe” of RioJoe.com) is launching a project to help new talent navigate the porn biz. “Porn Star Survival Guide” will feature established performers sharing insights on what it takes not only to survive, but to thrive in adult entertainment.
“I want to gather the collective wisdom of icons like Jenna Jameson and Tera Patrick, who are recognized and admired by newcomers,” says Zigfield, who’s written for Club, XBiz, Hustler, Maxim and other magazines.
He also plans to interview directors, agents and studio execs. “They’ve seen countless performers come and go. They know what separates the real stars from the wannabes.”
This is a high-visibility, prestige project. It’s an opportunity for the industry’s movers and shakers to help porn’s most precious–and vulnerable–assets start off on the right path.
The guide will focus on career advice, and basic life skills. “Many girls get into porn when they’re still clueless about life,” says Zigfield. “They don’t know how to balance a checkbook, let alone avoiding the pitfalls of drugs and alcohol. They can learn a lot from someone like Jenna, who’s been through it all but never lost her determination to come out on top.”
“Porn Star Survival Guide” will be available as a free booklet and online. The interviews will be videotaped for DVD and online viewing.
Zigfield credits a groundbreaking video produced several years ago by AIM Healthcare, “Porn 101,” for inspiration. The video features AIM founder Sharon Mitchell and Nina Hartley dispensing tidbits on various topics, from oral hygiene to taxes. “They did a great job,” says Zigfield. “The key is to create something now that’ll grab the attention of an 18 or 19-year-old just coming into the business.”
Zigfield is seeking sponsors for the guide. Contact him at (702) 883-6337 or Joe@RioJoe.com.
