(HOLLYWOOD, CA) — Veteran director and New York native Joe Gallant is excited about his return to VCA Pictures and has an entire list of items on his to do list with the venerable company starting with his next feature presentation called Avenue X.

Coming off a rewarding 2005 that resulted in critical and commercial acclaim for breakthrough titles such as Killing Courtney Luv and Contract Girl, Gallant and his Black Mirror Productions feel that VCA is a great place to let his imagination run free once again and has signed on for round two with the company.

“It’s a pleasure to initiate new projects for VCA. I plan to do a few large-scale, complex and filthy features for them this year. Last summer seems like a long time ago and the company is in great hands with Drew and Peter- they’ve got a cool, level-headed approach, and they’re eager to get innovative projects out. These could be VCA’s best years yet.”

Gallant, the New Yorker is referring to creative director Drew Rosenfeld who works closely with VCA’s producers and directors and Peter Reynolds who heads sales and marketing for VCA Pictures. It is Reynolds who has truly championed the genre that is affectionately referred to as alt-porn by working closely with a number of directors who seem to be cut from a different cloth and helping them realize their unique vision in today’s highly competitive marketplace.

“I don’t really care what they call this type of movie making,” stated the late forty something director. Gallant is also an accomplished musician and is busy readying Avenue X for release.

“Avenue X stars Kimberly Kane and a host of scorching LA/NYC talent. It’s a dark, political sci-fi XXX exploration set in NYC in the near future, and is based on a cable series I wrote and produced a few years back. I’m shooting 2 versions for the DVD- the Hd commercial version and the deeply experimental super-8 film version, for which I’m also writing the music score,” Gallant said.

When asked about this very ambitious project Gallant offered up the impossible “This flick will seem as if its written by William S. Burroughs and shot by Jean-Michel Basquiat. I’m hell bent to have this ready for spring release.”

To understand Gallant is quite pointless to many who simply enjoy good sex, however his movies tend to take the viewer on some sort of fantastic voyage that makes your head spin but eventually ends up satisfying the basic need for physical gratification. “This guy has a mind of his own and he’s not afraid to go places nobody else would think of,” stated another director who asked to remain anonymous.

Gallant is happy to be back with a company that totally understands his need for creative freedom. I’m just now getting the confidence and skills to allow myself to be called a filmmaker.”

Gallant has the uncanny ability to look towards the future while keeping an eye firmly planted in the past. “I came up during some of the hippest and best years in recent Manhattan history.’75-’85 was a dark, dangerous, wild and extremely sexy time in New York, and I’ve always tried to bring that intensity into my work, both music and hardcore,” Gallant reminisced.

If something unique and totally different from the vast majority of adult movies is what you are looking for, keep an eye out for Gallant, VCA Pictures and a street called Avenue X.

Avenue X is set for a spring release from VCA Pictures.
