Ah, Thanksgiving. When people from far and wide arise on the holiday with great anticipation, slavishly create the most delectable of dishes, procure the smoothest of spirits and negotiate the trickiest of highway hazards, so they can triumphantly arrive at their familial location to… watch football. Yes, football. That most American of Thanksgiving traditions. Forget the cranberry sauce, the sweet potatoes, the stuffing, the turkey and yes, even Grandma. Well, maybe not Grandma (as long as she doesn’t block the TV).
Ever since that first Thanksgiving NFL game in 1934 when the Bears edged out the Lions, the holiday has not been complete without leaving the loved ones at the door and maneuvering through the cousins and the coats to, within seconds, find the couch, the chips and the TV as if there were some highly-tuned internal radar that only activates on the last Thursday of every November.
Yes, Thanksgiving. When we allow our underpaid, overworked webmaster-dedicated laborers, not one, but two days away from the hectic affiliate machine we call FlyntDigital. We may not be here on Thursday, the 24th and Friday, the 25th in celebration of Thanksgiving, but we are always e-mail accessible for anything serious. And we will be back on Monday the 28th, a little happier and a lot heavier to once again serve you, our loyal and trusted friends.
So have a wonderful and safe holiday weekend, and lastly but not leastly (not a word, but it should be), remember those less fortunate than ourselves, as well as those wearing the uniform, who are far from home but close to our hearts.
