Porn Girls vs. Non-Porn Girls: We all have sex, so what if mine’s on camera?
So, I am a full-time student, and I do the “porn-thing” on the side. I got a little freaked out when I went back to school this quarter because I was afraid I would be recognized from the websites I have been on. My fears were confirmed when I told my friend Jason that I was doing porn. He responded with a big “I Know!” and told me he loved my performances. That got me thinking. If Jason saw me this summer and didn’t know to surf the web for me, how many other pre-pubescent guys sitting in my classes would know me as Devyn?
I try to keep a low profile at school. You know – no make-up, hair left straight down, velour couture running suits – nothing fancy. I wear long sleeves to cover my wrist tattoo which surely would give me away. I act like any other regular student by answering questions and cramming for tests. So having said all that, my biggest fear was having another guy recognize me. What didn’t expect to happen was for another Girl to recognize me. So, ok, I don’t know for sure if she recognized me, but read on for this story…
I am sitting in my math class with my friend *Dan. Our instructor puts us in groups because we are all in math for the numerically challenged (hey, I’ve been out of school for like 10 years – I can honestly say I will never use a+b=y) and I am in a group where I don’t know anyone. Sitting right next to me is this girl who from the moment I sat down began to glare at me. I mean, seriously sit and stare. I tried to shrug it off the first few days until the other day the leg of my chair got caught up in her backpack and she was really snippy when she asked me to move my chair. I thought, “This girl has got a real problem!” I like to take the higher road so I just leave it alone, but it is getting to the point that I asked another group member to switch seats with me. *Dan and I were speculating why this girl keeps staring at me, and when I say stare, I don’t mean in that admiration sort of way. So we figure maybe her boyfriend watches porn and she found out. What are the odds, though that she would have caught him watching my porn and then I turn up in her math class? It is a far stretch isn’t it? In any case, I can’t even begin to imagine any other plausible excuse for her to not like me. So I chalk it up to she knows me as Devyn and has a problem with a porn star classmate.
So, my point this week is SO WHAT! Who cares if I do porn? We all have sex, so what if mine is on camera? Research shows us that 68% of all couples polled have either made an at home tape with their current mate or before them. Look at any celebrity whose sex tapes went public. They get backlash for what, like 5 minutes? I come to class everyday looking sober and uninterested in any form of male companionship, and it’s not like I am wearing a shirt saying ‘Whore for Sale’ and flaunting my porn status around. I guess I am just having trouble with the new notoriety, and while we must take the bad with the good, I just didn’t expect and wasn’t prepared to deal with a negative response. So I have decided not to hide any longer. If I need to be the new face of porn on my college campus, then so be it. Not all of us come from families that can afford higher education, and I will be damned if I let anyone make me feel dirty or wrong for doing what I have to in order to provide a future for myself and my daughter.
I want to hear from you though! I say together it is time to take back our freedom of expression, and destigmatize the porn industry. Please email me at Devyn@AINews.com and tell me your horror stories of someone realizing what you do.
