Myles’ Weekend Adventures: Bonjour mon amis! Comment ca va? It was a great weekend to say the least. Thursday, August 25th, I drove to Las Vegas and attended the Exotic Dancer Reception and Awards Show that evening.
The people I saw and/or spoke with that I already knew during the reception and after the awards show were John Gray, the owner and CEO of the Spearmint Rhino Corporation, his wife, the beautiful Dyanna Lauren, Natalie Ocean, whom I bought a drink and sat with for a while, Ruby, Aspen Reign, Echo Valley, Darien Ross, Texas Barbie Bennett, Stormy Daniels, Jade Simone St. Clair, Andy Enomoto, publisher of Private Dancer Magazine, Lexi Lamour, Don Waitt, publisher of Exotic Dancer Publications, and Exotica. I met for the first time this evening, K. C. Cannons and Lana Christie.
Taya Parker, the Penthouse Pet for October 2005. (by the way, Taya’s issue of Penthouse is on the stands at this very moment; therefore, I would suggest that all of my readers go out and purchase a copy immediately, if not sooner. I intend to pick up a copy myself.)
As briefly as possible, here is a rundown of the awards show. The show was opened by a great, well choreographed, dance performance by the Sin City Kitties Troupe from the Las Vegas Spearmint Rhino. This year’s host was the well known Comic and actor, Dom Irrera. (He is the guy who originated the phrases, “Does that make me gay?”, and “I don’t mean that in a bad way.”
Penthouse Pet of the Year 2005, Martina Warren, presented Club of the Year – Southeast to Scores in Chicago, Illinois, and Southwest to the Men’s Club in Houston, Texas. Ashton Moore presented the Club of the Year Award – Mideast to the Masters in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Central to the Spearmint Rhino in Las Vegas, Nevada. (Yeah Rhino!)
This was followed my performances by the October 2005 Penthouse Pet Taya Parker and Jade Simone St. Clair.
Next, Carmen Luvana presented the Club of the Year Award to – Northeast to the Hustler Club in New York City, New York, Northwest to the Hustler Club in San Francisco, California, and the “Feature” Club of the Year Award went to Pure Gold in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Next came performances by Stormy Daniels and KC Cannons.
Dom Irrera presented the Newcomer Entertainer of the Year Award to Donna Doll, (I could kick myself. I recently had a chance to go meet Ms. Doll at the Fantasy Castle, and decided to stay home!) The Adult Movie Entertainer of the Year Award to Briana Banks, and the Club Owner Favorite of the Year Award to Erika Steele.
Following was another great performance by the Sin City Kitties Dance Troupe. Then, Mrs. Spearmint Rhino herself, the gorgeous and still very sexy Dyanna Lauren, presented the Innovator of the Year Award to the Penthouse Media Group. If I remember correctly, Dyanna was also the presenter of the Hall of Fame Awards to Rita Baine (I’m not certain of the spelling) and Michael J. Peters.
Following was performances by Zoe Britton and Kloey Love.
For the life of me, I can’t remember if Leslie Wells presented the Club Chain of the Year Award to P.T.’s Show Clubs, and the Club of the Year Award to the Crazy Horse, in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina or if possibly Dom Irrera did. What I do know is that Leslie definitely presented the Entertainer of the Year Award to our much deserving mutual friend Jade Simone St. Clair!
That is it for the awards show for this year, other than to say that all of the performers, with the exception of the Sin City Kitties Dance Troupe, were Entertainer of the Year nominees.
America’s #1 Dancer Contest, Friday Afternoon, August 26th
Before time for the doors to open for the contest, I ran into, and spoke with momentarily, Goldie Dewitt, owner of the 1Down.com website, editor and publisher of 1Down Magazine, and owner of the 1Down Lounge and Grill in Chino Hills, California, and his lovely fiance, Cathy. (or is it Kathy? I don’t know. Give me a break. I just met her.)
The forty-five beautiful contestants competing in this event were eventually narrowed down to ten finalist. The top ten dancers were: first place #33, second #31, third #34, fourth #39, fifth #41, sixth #28, seventh #24, eighth #29, ninth #12, and tenth #10. I can understand why the contestants were not mentioned by name during the contest. Nobody wanted to risk having any of the judges influenced by names. However, once it was over, why on God’s green Earth the top ten ladies were not called out by name beats the Hell out of me, especially since there were no more elimination rounds!
While speaking with Andy Enomoto after the contest had ended, he told me the third place winner was Levena Holmes, and the ninth place winner was Presley Rose.
When I go to see my eye doctor in a couple of weeks, even if he tells me my prescription hasn’t changed drastically, I am still going to ask him to get me new lenses for my indoor glasses. While I have never met Levena Holmes, I have seen so many pictures of her, I should have recognized her. And, I still can’t believe I didn’t recognize Presley Rose. I have met her several times since she won the Spearmint Rhino Entertainer of the Year 2004, and I have seen her dance at both the Van Nuys and the downtown Los Angeles Spearmint Rhinos!
There were five contestants whom I either know, or have met before. They were, Kloey Love, Devon Michaels, Ruby, and I think the fourth was Darien Ross. I can’t remember who the fifth lady was to save my soul, assuming I have one.
Creme de la Creme Feature Showcase, Friday evening
This was another great event which was held at the Deja Vu club. The event was hosted by Jade Simone St. Clair, who did an excellent job. The features who performed for this event were, in order of appearance, Alyssa Chase, Vivian West, K. C. Cannons, Paradise Lei, Aspen Reign, Shayla Lane, Donna Doll, Darien Ross, Natalie Ocean, Ashley Andrews, and Jade Simone St. Clair.
All of these ladies gave excellent performances with very good music, great looking costumes, and so much interaction as they were able to do. I would be more than happy to go see any of them, both the ones I already know and the newcomers, perform at a local club. I have recently reviewed Aspen Reign, Darien Ross, Natalie Ocean, and Jade Simone St. Clair.
After the showcase, I met and spoke with Shayla Lane. While speaking with Shayla, she mentioned that she felt she had two strikes against her so far as club bookings go, because she has not appeared in any adult films and because she is African-American.
Shayla Lane is a lovely young woman, and she performs very well on stage with good music, good looking costumes, and very good interaction with the customers. Therefore, I would like for all of my readers to go on a crusade to harass the owners and managers of all their local clubs until they book this lovely lady! I myself intend to throw her name around at a couple of clubs I occasionally visit. Yes, I really do know a couple of club owners and several general managers.
Fan Fair Tradeshow, Saturday Afternoon, August 27th
The ladies I know who participated in the tradeshow this year were, Cherokee, Summer Cummings, Tyler Faith, Crystal Gunns, Kayla Kupcakes, Lexi Lamour, Devon Michaels, Minka, Ashton Moore, Maxi Mounds, Aspen Reign, Darien Ross, Ruby, and Echo Valley. (in the last year, I have reviewed Cherokee, Summer Cummings, Tyler Faith, Crystal Gunns, Lexi Lamour, Devon Michaels, Ashton Moore, Maxi Mounds and Aspen Reign.)
The participating ladies whom I met for the first time were, Regan Anthony, Alyssa Chase, Chevelle, Dede Deluxe, Lauren Kain, Taya Parker, Scarlett Rayn, Vivian West, and Destiny “B” Wilde.
I was fortunate enough to meet a lovely French Canadian adult film star named Rebecca Jade who was there walking around and meeting her American counterparts.
Alyssa Alps and Leslie Wells coordinated and supervised the tradeshow, and these two very beautiful ladies did an excellent job! I am extremely proud to call both of these lovely women my friends!
Adult Film Stars Showcase, Saturday Evening
At the start of this showcase, Wankus, from KSEX Radio, warmed up the crowd, and a fine job he did. While speaking with him a bit later, I told him that I never realized that he had a bit of comedian in him. He was quite funny.
Cherokee and Ashton Moore did an excellent job of hosting this showcase, and they were hilarious! The crowd absolutely loved the job they did.
The ladies who performed in this showcase were, in order of appearance, Lexi Lamour, Ruby, Lauren Kain, and Rebecca Love, and they all gave excellent performances with good music, great looking costumes, and so much interaction as they were able to do. (Lauren Kain is the only one of these ladies whom I have never reviewed. However, if I ever get a chance to see her perform in a club, trust me, I will review her.)
Why there were only four ladies performing in this showcase, I have no idea. I did hear a piece of a rumor that something less than desirable happened in regard to a certain feature dancer during the dancer contest on Friday afternoon and according to what little bit I heard, all but the four ladies who did perform boycotted this showcase. I can’t and won’t say anymore, because I don’t know the entire story, nor do I have any proof of anything.
So there we have it. The Exotic Dancer Fan Fair 2005 is now a part of history. I always hate to see Fan Fair end. It is such a blast, especially for somebody like myself who knows so many of the people involved. It is somewhat like a reunion of sorts.
Well, that’s enough for now. The following are all of the ladies’ websites I could locate:
KCCannons.com, TayaParker.com, LanaChristie.com, RebeccaJade.com, ChevelleDancer.com, DarienRossXXX.com, SpicyExotica.com, XXXAspen.net, DevonsBodyShop.net, TexasBarbie.com, LexiLamour.com, ShaylaLane.com, NatalieOcean.com, SummerC.com, XXXDonnaDoll.com, ClubStormy.com, KloeyLove.com, MyAshleyAndrews.com, LexiLamour.com, KaylaKupcakes.com, AshtonMoore.com, AlyssaAlps.com, TylerFaith.com, RaynStorm.com, LaurenKain.com, CherokeeXXX.com, MaxiMounds.com, MinkaXXX.com, CrystalGunns.com, RebeccaLove.com, Groups.Yahoo.com/Group/AlyssaChase
Because of the upcoming holiday weekend, my column will skip a week. My Editor-in-Chief can more than likely make good use of the little bit of catch up time this will provide him. Trust me, when I say, he is a very busy man.
Bonsoir et au revoir,
Myles Shaffer
