(LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND) — Robin Reid has lifted the lid for the first time on his career outside the ring – as a hardcore porn magazine star.
The Liverpool super-middleweight, who bids to take Jeff Lacy’s Ibf crown here tonight is out to prove he is a hard man in more ways than one.
Reid, 34, has Ko’d 27 of his rivals in a 43-fight career and just like that form he reckons he is so good at his other job he can choose his ‘partners’.
He last did a shoot just over a year ago. And the only time Reid, 34, gets annoyed is when he hears people saying he did it for money because his fight career was on the slide.
Reid said: “Oh, the porn thing. Let me get this straight. A few people were thinking I did it because I was struggling for money but that wasn’t the case at all.
“Friends of mine are photographers in the porn industry and they asked me do it years and years ago for obvious reasons.
“I’d done bits of ordinary modelling and they said I could make a few quid out of it. I thought about it but turned them down because I believed it would work against my boxing career. *
“I had this squeaky-clean boxing image. The ‘Pretty Boy’ thing was always thrown at me because people kept telling me I was good looking and I always used to try to avoid it.
“One day I thought about my image, you don’t hear about me doing this or that with women or drugs or going out on the p***, stuff like that.
“My mates threw it at me again about four years ago, they said come and have a go. My reaction had changed and I thought why not?.
“We all say as blokes ‘I’d love to do that’ and when the push comes to shove most run a million miles from it.

“So I had a dabble with it and to be quite honest I was good at it. There was nothing dodgy about it. It was all above board and we are all consenting adults at the end of the day.
“I’ve been lucky. I am gifted with my looks I have a good physique because of my sport, I have been blessed with boxing skills – and I’m not too badly off down below either!
“You have to use those assets to your advantage.
“I don’t want to be one of these fighters who hang up their gloves and say ‘if only’. I’ll give it a go and have a laugh while I am doing it.
“Boxing comes first and foremost, the glamour modelling or whatever you want to call it will always take a back seat. It is just a bit of fun. If I was c**p at it, I wouldn’t have been asked to do it again and again and again would I?
