Fred Salaff Wrongful Panama Imprisonment Update: Fred’s situation has improved slightly. He was switched to Renacer prison, a better facility in Gamboa, next to the Panama Canal. Yet, the rest of the crew are still in the hellhole called Joyita (Little Jewel).
Fred was switched thanks to the U.S. Embassy’s efforts, however, the rest of the crew is not American, and their embassies apparently have not made corresponding similar efforts on their behalf.
The brightest bit of news is that a previous complaint from a woman performer was dropped by the prosecutor’s office, so now Fred only faces one charge, that of corruption of minors. The other performers and Stefano only had that same charge, so they are still in the same situation. One Hundred days have passed since Fred and the crew were unjustly imprisoned.
