(WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA) — Popular radio/television host Ryan Seacrest (RyanSeacrest.com) spoke openly for the first time about his gay XXX doppelganger, Jason Sechrest of JasonCurious.com, on his KISS-FM show Friday afternoon during an interview with Will Smith. The story was quickly posted on the Warner Bros. news site, CelebrityJustice.com, as a “breaking” top story. However, the story itself, which is now surfacing elsewhere on mainstream news and gossip sites, is nearly a year and a half old.
“I had to legally go after someone who was doing an ‘American Idol’ porn,” Seacrest explains, according to Celebrity Justice. “And I was host of the porn! … And the guy’s name was Seacrest, and he had blond spiky hair. The only difference was, instead of a microphone, he was holding something else.” … Celebrity Justice goes on to report that the lawsuit, filed by Fox, against Sechrest and the Jet Set Productions’ (JetSetMen.com) video “American Porn Star” was quickly dropped.
Sechrest responded from his office in West Hollywood on Monday morning, “Actually, the only thing I was holding was a microphone, as I’m not a porn star and was merely the host of the video. I was accused in the lawsuit of stealing Ryan Seacrest’s name, but in reality my last name is indeed Sechrest, pronounced the same, spelled differently.”
Sechrest has been a host and broadcast journalist for both the straight and gay adult entertainment industries for over six years, serving as the Ryan Seacrest of that genre since before Ryan Seacrest’s star even skyrocketed. “We obviously have very similar jobs albeit in different arenas,” continues Sechrest, “plus similar last names and similar deliveries. It’s easy to see where the comparisons are coming from and I thought doing the hosting gig for ‘American Porn Star’ would be the coolest way to handle the situation. I thought it would finally explain to people once and for all that we were two distinctly different people. Instead, it confused everyone even more and our names were suddenly linked everywhere in the same sentence. …not that I mind being that close to him! But with the exception of highlighting my hair for a week, I’ve never done anything to try to copy or emulate Ryan in any way. This is my real name and this is who I really am. We just happen to have a lot in common.”
The adult entertainment personality says he penned a letter to Ryan Seacrest over the weekend via his official web site, RyanSeacrest.com, apologizing for any controversy that may have befallen him due to the movie. Ironically, the news item broke only one day after “American Porn Star” took home the prestigious GayVN Award (GayVNAwards.com) for Best Renting Title of 2004, proving once again, as Sechrest says, “…all publicity is good publicity!”
“American Porn Star” is now available on VHS and DVD at JetSetMen.com.
Jason’s Bio
Jason Sechrest has been an active part of the adult entertainment community for over six years as a print/broadcast journalist, public relations representative, gossip columnist, movie reviewer, sex talk radio host, and more. He’s most known for his innovative and groundbreaking adult web site, JasonCurious.com, wherein he allows the regular Joe and Jane to live vicariously through a himself, a twenty-five year old bisexual who knows every porn star you’ve ever wanted to sleep with — straight and gay, male or female! The site is the only one on the web to cover both genres of the adult entertainment world and, in an age where reality-based entertainment rules, has been highly successful in giving the viewer a taste of the wild rollercoaster that is Sechrest’s erotic life. He’s slept with Jenna (or next to her, at least!) and has thrown Snoop Dogg out of his posh Vegas parties, making mainstream headlines. Sechrest and his site has been covered by everyone from Rolling Stone magazine to MTV News, the most recent mainstream recognition coming from Arena magazine, who listed him on their “50 Most Powerful People in Porn” list alongside the likes of Larry Flynt and Hugh Hefner. Sechrest currently pens a syndicated news and gossip column, “Jason’s News Desk,” for web sites and magazines. He also hosts a weekly sex talk radio show, “The Young & the Curious,” at KSEXradio.com, as well as the only weekly gay porn event at a nightclub anywhere in the world, Micky’s “Cocktails with the Stars,” located in West Hollywood, California, where he resides with his dog Sadie.
