(SAN FRANCISCO, CA) — Exotic Erotic Ball’s 25th Anniversary Celebrates Evolution of the Sexual Revolution. One of San Francisco’s legendary events, and the largest party of its kind in the world, Perry Mann’s Exotic Erotic Ball will celebrate its 25th Anniversary at San Francisco’s Cow Palace. For its 25th year, the Ball will add something extra to the event by expanding on its theme of freedom of expression and returning to its political roots.
A crowd of 15,000 mischievous exhibitionists will pack into San Francisco’s Cow Palace, living out costumed fantasies in this erotic masquerade ball. In addition, the Ball will host a First Amendment panel during the Exotic Erotic Expo, that will take place prior to the Ball, where celebrity guests will discuss pertinent issues surrounding the freedom of speech. Panelists and celebrity guests this year include Art Alexakis from Everclear; Dennis Rodman; award-winning producer Jo Streit; owner of the infamous Bunny Ranch Dennis Hof; activist and hip-hop artist Aya de Leon; Michael Gross, part of the original brain trust behind National Lampoon and SCTV; Johnny Buss, the owner of the Los Angeles Sparks; Dr. Sharon Mitchell, the founder of the Adult Industry Mental Health Care Foundation (AIM); sexologist and part owner of Good Vibrations Carol Queen; adult stars Tera Patrick, Ron Jeremy, Christy Canyon, Tabitha Stevens, Raquel Devine, Violet Blue, Alexis Fire, Ed Powers, Dave Cummings (the world’s oldest active adult film star), and Candida Royalle. Music will be provided by Everclear, the Village People, and Glamnation (featuring musicians from Motley Crue, Ratt, Alice Cooper, Buckcherry, and the Wallflowers).
Perry Mann, Founder and Producer of the Ball, explains, "We started our first Ball to raise presidential campaign funds. This year, an election year, when the climate is politically charged, it makes sense to add a political element to our 25th Anniversary."
History of the Ball Perry Mann organized the first Exotic Erotic Ball in 1979 to raise campaign funds for perennial "Nudist" candidate for president, the late Louis Abolafia. Louis, who coined the phrase, "Make love, not war!" and whose legendary Greenwich Village love-ins inspired the New York press to crown him "The Love King," ran under the "Love Ticket" with the slogan: "I have nothing to hide."
Since its first year, more than 250,000 have attended the Ball. In 1999 and again in 2001, former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown issued a proclamation for "Exotic Erotic Ball Day." Celebrity guests and performers have included Grace Jones, Joan Jett, Kool and the Gang, Chris Isaak, Sugar Ray, Dennis Rodman, Digital Underground, Ron Jeremy, Tabitha Stevens, Morris Day and the Time, Motorhead, Superbooty, Love and Rockets, the Tubes, and Nina Hartley. In 2001, Mann (along with a forward by Dennis Rodman) released the book: The Exotic Erotic Ball: Twenty Years of the World’s Sexiest Party. Over the last quarter-century, the ball has turned from local legend to a world-renowned festival that celebrates human sexuality and the freedom of expression.
"The premise to the festival has always been simple," says Mann. "We give people a safe haven to act out their fantasies. We attract men and women of all ages, heterosexuals, lesbians, gays, and transsexuals. We welcome students, teachers, lawyers, stockbrokers, secretaries, doctors, nurses, and government employees. People come from all over the Bay Area, and about a third of our crowd comes from outside the Bay Area. It doesn’t matter who you are or where you’re from. On this night, everyone’s a star!"
The Exotic Erotic Ball has also fostered strong ties to the community. Over the past 18 years, the Ball has distributed hundreds of thousands of dollars to charities, choosing causes such as the homeless, Aids, women victims of violence, and missing or runaway children. This year, it will host a costumed blood drive with Blood Centers of the Pacific, and plans are underway to host a voter registration rally.
The 2004 Exotic Erotic Ball Part Mardi Gras, part burlesque, part rock concert, or as Mann describes it, "An erotic Cirque du Soleil," this year’s Ball will offer non-stop entertainment of limitless variety. Attendees will see live music, DJs, erotic performers, exotic dancers, wild sideshows and playful interactive fun on three stages. The world’s largest fetish hall–over 100,000 square feet–will feature B&D demos, fetish fashions, the healing arts, latex body painting, and 25 additional acts in three huge theme rooms.
Newly added this year, an Exotic Erotic Expo will feature over 100 vendors who showcase the latest in exotic fashion, erotic art, adult products, games, and novelties. The Exotic Erotic Expo will be open during the evening hours of the Ball, and also open to the public for only $10 from 12-6pm in the same location. Participants can get a tan, a spanking, or an erotic massage, and participate in events ranging from a Haunted Whorehouse to a Human Petting Zoo.
The 25th Anniversary of Perry Mann’s Exotic Erotic Ball will be held on Saturday, October 23, 8:00pm-2:00am at the Cow Palace, 2600 Geneva Avenue, San Francisco. They are currently offering an Early Ball Special, where tickets are $49.95 for General Admission and $125 for Vip. The prices will increase slightly in stages on September 1, October 1, and the day of the show. Tickets at the door on October 23 will be $90 for GA and $200 for Vip.
