Sitting in the office of second generation film maker Mitchell Spinelli, one is riveted as he speaks of his father Anthony Spinelli, who pioneered high end porn in the 1970s with such titles as “Sex World”, “Talk Dirty to Me”, and the ground breaking “Reel People”.

Humble, appreciative, and visionary are words that describe the junior Spinelli, he has an office filled with glamorous movie posters from many decades that symbolizes his foot being half planted in tradition, and another foot currently in the world of the extremely competitive adult industry production.

Personally, I’ve reviewed his movies and found them to be sexy, nasty, and well made. Spinelli states that the industry has changed since his father was a major player shooting films along with other high end directors such as Andrew Blake twenty years ago.

“Two decades ago, you were able to feature a couple of high end girls per film such as Vanessa Del Rio to “act” with other stars such as John Leslie or Joey Silvera, in that bygone era you had to tell a story within the porn feature for it to be successful.” He goes on to state that a trend he sees in the movie making of today, “Nowadays, the gonzo feature has taken over the market share in the industry, you have to be much more economical and provide the valued consumer the type of sex that sells product flying out the door, we here at Acid Rain have changed with the times and are moving to be a leader in identifying what people want and giving it to them.”

With titles such as “Bust My Hole” and “I Love ‘Em Natural” this production company is slightly on the hardcore side of the general market compared to the soft core Vivid and Wicked Pictures. Spinelli envisions that his company will one day compete with those companies and the powerful Red Light District for dominance at the top of the industry food chain.

Being a player, like production company Zero Tolerance, and their level in the industry are what Spinelli hopes to also compete with. He states, “To be a high end production company with super sales you have to do three things; know your fans, put your name out there with stunning product, and have your girls deliver incredible performances that keep box covers selling.”

Spinelli speaks with a rare conviction and passion to carry on this family legacy. He resembles in mannerism and physicality a Francis Ford Coppola on a mission. Mitchell Spinelli says he plans on working 110% to actualize his plan of getting his company to be considered the best; here’s hoping success strikes twice in two generations for the Spinelli family.
