As I mentioned in my May, 2003 monthly column, HBO has been filming a lot of info and events concerning the world of adult films. Recently, they were present for the filming of Director Bobby Rinaldi’s "Screw My Wife, Please, Vol 35" for Wildlife Productions. The HBO Director reiterated to me that the objective of the six one-half hour segments being broadcast next spring is "entertainment", not an expose’!
On location at a large estate in the privacy of the hills overlooking Simi Valley, the HBO crew of nine carried out their coverage with professionalism and a positive attitude. They filmed the entire spectrum of Wildlife’s efficient and fun shoot, starting with setting up, make-up room activities, paperwork, "pretty girl" poses for the front of the box cover, the intro Director Rinaldi and I shot, Director Rinaldi’s meetings with scene participants, the sex, catering, interviews, etc. I thought they comprehensively covered all aspects of the shoot, and never got in the way of the Wildlife filming.
As an aside, as is always the case with Caterer Marty Rudy, the food service throughout the entire 13-hour shoot was varied, wholesome, and awesome (e.g., barbeque salmon, shrimp, and steak with side dishes and all the fixings for lunch!). Besides three full-course meals and continuing snacks throughout the entire day, we even got doggie bags of food to take home with us!
Just last week, an HBO crew of six astute professionals came to San Diego to follow me around a bit, and to film me setting up for a "Knee Pads Nymphos" shoot with actress MI DeVille (her photos are on my DaveCummings.com website). It was basically HBO coverage of an average day in my life, along with the sex scene filming with MI, a San Diegan who has become my first real-life girlfriend since five years ago when Stephanie Swift’s Mom and I dated – I’m thoroughly enjoying that "back in high school" courting that MI and I are doing! After the money shot for the shoot (in "Knee Pad Nymphos", I’m the Production Assistant, the Producer/Director/Cameraman and the male performer, so it’s a little demanding for my 63 years of age), HBO filmed me outdoors jogging and doing push-ups. All in all, it was a fun day, one where new and fun experiences abounded. Afterwards, MI went shopping and I joined up with the Hash House Harriers running club (see SDH3.com) and did an evening run followed by beer, food, and laughter.
A few weeks ago, MI and I attended AVN’s (see AVN.com ) 2003 Erotica-LA event at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Upon arriving on the Saturday of the three-day event, I was struck by the size, efficiency, and well-organized smoothness of the event. Thousands and thousands of fans were happily snapping photos of some of the biggest names in Adult Film, the girls were absolutely gorgeous and attentive to the requests from fans for autographs and photos, and everybody was smiling and happy in that huge hall of humanity! Scheduled entertainment, interesting seminars, and female-filled booths had a positive effect upon attendees. Erotica-LA was masterfully organized and an absolute delight to attend.
Adult Industry events seem to be more accepted than ever, as evidenced when Larry Flynt and Jenna Jameson recently appeared at the San Diego Hustler Store. Invited to stop by and say hello, MI and I parked across the street from Hustler so that we could go to dinner prior to the appearance; even though it was almost two hours early, the line of fans leading to the Hustler Store was over a block long! We walked down to a steak place, one where you gas-barbeque your entre’e in a fun indoor setting surrounded by happy locals and tourists; upon our return to the Hustler store, the line had grown to Three blocks long!
Inside, we did the hand-shaking and hugging thing with the Guests of Honor and their associates, and watched the extremely well-behaved and respectful crowd starting to make it’s way to the table set up for Larry and Jenna. Being San Diego, a lot of the fans were military folks who had recently returned from the Gulf area. It was a privilege to see how happy they were to get autographs and photos.
One group of Marines, which included an absolutely and stunningly beautiful female Marine, recognized me and came over where we were hanging out with Larry’s wife and daughter; MI DeVille and I did the photo and autographing thing for them, and truly delighted in the All-American wholesomeness of these model citizens and warriors. I couldn’t help but be struck by the view and irony of Marines and Larry Flynt interacting as fighters for (and symbols of) freedom and democracy in America!
Throughout the night, many military personnel greeted us. Single females and couples were in attendance in large numbers, and seemed happily overwhelmed to be meeting Larry Flynt and Jenna Jameson. During a short break, Larry smilingly kidded MI and me about me being so much older than her, and we chatted a little about my military career and the Free Speech Coalition. Before closing out this paragraph, I want to comment about the graciousness of the interaction between Jenna and everyone in that store, and in that line of fans—simply put, she made everyone feel like royalty. Were Jenna running for public office, she would have probably gotten unanimous votes from everyone who saw her last night; she’s a perfect representative of adult entertainment, and human kindness.
Please keep in mind, and help others realize, that sex between consenting adults is a gift from God to mankind; and, that it’s healthy, wholesome, natural, and normal!
