(CHATSWORTH, CA) — Bob Guccione takes another big step towards reclaiming the Penthouse market he established. On July 24th, at 9 Banner Drive in Milford, Connecticut – America’s first Penthouse Boutique will open its doors.
Daniel Quinn, CEO of Horizon Media and Smash Pictures, and Bob Guccione of Penthouse, agreed today to officially name Penthouse’s first retail store in America the Penthouse Boutique.
"The future begins with a quest for the best" beamed Dan Quinn. "Penthouse is one of the classiest, most well-known names associated with eroticism and this store certainly reflects that. This is a ten thousand square foot — state of the art– adult retail establishment."
Yapou Design, of Miami, Florida was brought in to design the clean and fresh boutique look of the store. Architectural Millwork of Connecticut chose flexible floor fixtures to allow the appearance of the store to perpetually change. Everything from the polished porcelain under your feet, to the crystal chandeliers hanging overhead shouts "First class!" to all who enter.
"We took the successful, traditional retail model and infused the adult lifestyle into it," said Dan Quinn. "Our new generation of adult consumers are couples and women. They prefer to shop the same way they do in other, high-end retail stores. We let our customers touch and feel the merchandise before they purchase it, and if they’re not satisfied, we feature a no-hassle return policy — except for toys, although every toy is tested in the customer’s presence before they leave the store."
Videos and DVDs from nearly every manufacturer in the industry are available, as well as toys, novelties, lingerie, oils, and more. Seasonal items and in-style logo apparel are available for both men and women.
"Our video department is revolutionary" said Dan Quinn. "We have plasma screens on the walls showcasing promotions and advertising from various production companies. The graphics will change for each ad campaign that is being featured. We have most every production company housed together like you’d see in a large upscale department store."
"We’re implementing an electronic catalogue which allows the customer to type in whatever title they’re searching for. The system then tells them where in the store it’s located. I’m very excited about this" beamed Dan Quinn.
"We currently have plans for ten new pilot stores in the works as well as other business ventures. Today was just the first step" said Dan Quinn.
The number one rule of retail is location — and located just off Interstate 95, the Penthouse Boutique will have approximately one hundred thousand people a day passing by.
Store Hours are Monday thru Thursday 9am – Midnight, Friday and Saturday 9 am – 2am, and Sunday 11-11.
Dan Quinn assured "There will be plenty of assistance available. We’re employing two shifts with a swing shift of 8-10 employees per shift."
The Grand Opening on July 24th is by invitation only and will showcase several Penthouse Pets.
