Digital Playground received 7 awards at the 2002 Empire Awards; Nic Andrews’ Rush, starring contract super star, Devon, garnered a record 5 awards, including the prestigious ‘Viewers Choice’ and ‘Best Feature DVD’ awards. Virtual Sex with Janine was named ‘Best Interactive DVD,’ making it the third year in a row that Joone’s highly acclaimed Virtual Sex series took Empire’s ‘Best Interactive DVD’ accolade.
In 2001, Virtual Sex with Tera Patrick won and in 2002, Virtual Sex with Devon took the trophy. Setting yet another precedence, it is the second year in a row that Island Fever, also directed by Joone, was declared ‘Best Selling DVD,’ Empire’s only money award. Shannon Nutt, Adult DVD Empire’s Editorial Director says, “Adult DVD Empire wishes to congratulate Digital Playground for Rush’s five Empire Awards – the most for any one title since we started giving out these awards. Special notice also has to go to Island Fever, a title that continued to be Adult DVD Empire’s best selling DVD in 2002, even after claiming the same award in 2001.”
Adult DVD Empire, a leading DVD E-tailer, produces the Empire Award Show. “Titles are nominated and voted on by a panel of critics comprised by Empire staff and other aficionados of adult entertainment. The ‘Viewers’ Choice’ Award follows a different process; this is selected by consumers, they vote on our website and we accept one vote from each unique email address and identity,” explains marketing manager, JT Smith.
Digital Playground President, Samantha Lewis is blown away. “We worked really hard this year to put out the best titles we could and it paid off. I’m still in shock, we’ve never swept an award show before. It feels really good. I’d like to thank Adult DVD Empire and everyone who participated in the voting process. Thank you.” Director Joone is thrilled, “It is nice to have our work acknowledged. I’d like to thank all of the fans.”
