(WEST WARWICK, RI) — During a pyrotechnic display at a concert at “The Station”, a club in West Warwick, RI, where Great White guitarist and former adult performer Ty Longley was performing Thursday night, the stage caught fire which spread quickly inside the packed nightclub.
The fire caused concertgoers to bottleneck the exits as they fled for their lives. Currently Longley is still missing while the rest of the band has now made it to their tour bus. There were at least 100 people injured with mostly burns. They were taken to Kent Hospital, a few miles from The Station in the Providence, suburb of West Warwick, while others were taken to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence.
According to CNN dozens of area ambulances were frantically treating individuals outside the club as violent flames and toxic smoke poured from the building. Video shot by a CNN reporter covering the concert said the footage “showed the onstage fireworks evolve into a massive fire.”
“It was that fast,” said Brian Butler, CNN cameraman, “As soon as the pyrotechnics stopped, the flame had started on the egg-crate backing behind the stage, and it just went up the ceiling and people stood and watched it. Some people were already trying to leave and others were just sitting there going ‘Yeah, that’s great!’ and I remember that statement because I was like, ‘This is not great, this is time to leave.'”
Longley, clearly visible in the CNN footage, was seen to approach the stage right back exit with another band member before turning and running off the front of the stage. From a phone conversation with one of the people with the band we learned the rest of the band except Longley had made it to the safety of the band’s bus where the rest of the band is trying to find if Longly had been taken to one of the local hospitals.
Longley appeared in many movies by Zane Productions under the name Ty Bo. He has been playing with Great White for the past three years. More on this as we learn the details from sources at the scene.
