(SILICONE VALLEY, CA) — The world of media relations can be pretty intimidating at times, and in ways it’s even more terrifying in adult. It can be hard to keep track of all the websites that cover porn news, what specs magazines have for their reviews, how you can present a less perverted face to mainstream and who you have to blow to get good coverage for you and your company. Luckily there’s a new business on the block that knows the ins and outs of all these issues. It’s called Sin Spin, and it’s fronted by self-confessed pro-porn media whore Carly Milne.
"Basically I started Sin Spin because I looked at the crowded PR landscape that adult currently has and I said, ‘me too!’," says Milne. "But really, I was approached by a number of people over the last little while who were looking for something different in terms of their representation. It seemed like a fun challenge, and so the idea behind Sin Spin was born."
Even though Sin Spin is barely five minutes old, the company already has a couple of cool clients to boast about. The first to sign on with Milne was Madness Pictures, director Andre Madness’ production company, and Grand Opening!, a sex positive store that caters to women with a location in Boston, which is soon to be joined with one in Los Angeles.
"One night Carly and I were talking and she Jerry Maguired me – she sold me to myself," says Madness. "And even though I’m larger than life in my own mind, she gave me a new motivation to be big in other people’s minds. The more people I can reach, the better it is for my company. Carly’s experience and my personal feelings have given me every confidence that she’s the right person to represent my company name."
Though Milne is planning on building Sin Spin’s client list slowly, she’s currently negotiating with a few other industry figures and is open to hearing from more.
"Seeing as I’m only one person, I don’t want to take on too many people at once or else I’m not going to be able to give each of my clients the attention that they deserve," she says. "But not everyone wants a full-time PR person and requirements vary from company to company, so I’m still interested in hearing from people who might need my services. If I don’t think I can help you, at the very least I can help point you in the right direction."
In the meantime, look forward to being bombarded with Sin Spin press releases soon.
