(WOODLAND HILLS, CA) — The Free Speech Coalition’s “Celebration of Freedom” – commonly known as the Prom of the Adult Entertainment Industry – was at the Marriott Hotel last Sunday evening. The awards show and dinner dance was a successful event for the FSC.
The Free Speech Coalition, which is the trade organization of the Adult Entertainment Industry, had much to celebrate this year. Winning Ashcroft vs Free Speech Coalition (the “Virtual Child Pornography” case) in the US Supreme Court was only the most important part of the many things the FSC is doing for us. The pre-ceremony reception started at 5:30 pm with cocktails and hor d’oeuvres. Attendance of this event has been a draw to the very roots of the Industry. The ceremony started later than expected with a welcome from FSC President Scott Tucker and Executive Director William Lyon.
The awards presented were to:
Ron Braverman – Joel Warner “Good Guy” Award
Tom Byron – Lifetime Achievement Award, Actor
Peter North – Lifetime Achievement Award, Actor
Ginger Lynn – Lifetime Achievement Award, Actress
Kevin Williams – Lifetime Achievement Award, Gay Actor
Gino Colbert – Lifetime Achievement Award, Gay Director
Dave Cummings – Positive Image Award
Radley Metzger – Anthony Spinelli Lifetime Achievement Award, Director
T.L. and Suzi Wahl – Hal Freeman “Freedom Isn’t Free” Award
Mel Kamins – Industry Founders Award
The crowd of dedicated Fans of X-Rated Entertainment, Talent and Industry Professionals who turned out in force for this event thinned quickly after the awards and dinner was over, but not before Bill Lyon himself was seen taking pictures from table to table, shaking hands and talking with those in attendance.
Tickets for the awards presentation and dinner/dance were priced at $200 per person, and $100 per person for talent and the press, with the proceeds going to support the FSC’s never-ending battle against censorship. The night’s activities were a reminder for us all that Freedom Isn’t Free.
