(WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA) — Famed comedy club, the Improvisation, will host an evening of hard-edge stand-up comedy mixed with adult personalities when they debut their “Red Light Comedy District” on Wednesday, May 8th, 2002. Sam Phillips will co-host the event with Rick Overton. Penthouse Pets Alexus Winston and Nikki Nova will be featured guests.
Sam Phillips is a former Penthouse Pet and broadcast journalist for Playboy TV’s “Sexcetera.” the star was catapulted to mainstream and became a household name last year with the success of her own talk radio program, and the nationally syndicated Columbia/Tri-Star television show “Men are From Mars, Women are From Venus.” Phillips will host the evening’s festivities with Rick Overton and will be featured for the first time ever in her own stand-up comedy act.
Rick Overton is an Emmy Award-Winning writer for “The Dennis Miller Show” and starred opposite Bill Murray in the blockbuster comedy “Groundhog’s Day.” Overton and Phillips will introduce headliners Sarah Silverman of “Conan,” “Letterman,” and “Greg, the Bunny” show fame; Richard Jeni, who was recently showcased in his fifth HBO special, “A Good Catholic Boy”; and Dom Irrera of “Comedy Central Presents.”
Towards the end of the evening, adult personalities Alexus Winston and Nikki Nova will have an opportunity to showcase a different side of their talents as they join the headliners in a round of improv and theater games. Phillips, Winston, and Nova will be available after the show for interviews and photo ops with the press. They will also “meet and greet” with the audience, selling autographed photos and other merchandise to their fans.
The Improvisation, located at 8162 Melrose Ave. In West Hollywood, California, is the original comedy club where everyone from Andy Kaufman to Rosie O’Donnell got their start in the stand-up spotlight. “The Red Light Comedy District” kicks off this Wednesday night, May 8th, 2002 at 8:00 pm (PDT).
