Excellence in Gay Adult Video to be Honored by AVN

(CHATSWORTH, CA) — AVN, the adult industry’s leading authority, will honor gay adult entertainers in 33 categories at the 2002 GayVN Awards show, to be held March 22 at the Universal Hilton in Los Angeles.

A panel of over 60 judges comprising reviewers and gay adult industry journalists selected nominees in categories ranging from Best Gay Video, Best Director and Gay Performer of the Year to marketing and packaging. A full list of the nominees is available at www.gayvn.com.

AVN said the releases Carnal Intentions and Seven Deadly Sins: Gluttony garnered the most nominations. Carnal Intentions from the Men of Odyssey studio received 12 nominations, including nods for Best Actor (Tony Donovan), Best Director (Jim Steel), Best sex Scene (Brad Benton & Donovan) and Best Gay Video. Seven Deadly Sins: Gluttony from All Worlds Video picked up 11 nominations, including Best Actor (Tanner Hayes), Best Director (Wash West), Best sex Scene (Rod Barry & Troy Michaels) and Best Gay Video. The Seven Deadly Sins series earned a 12th nomination for Best Packaging, and Seven Deadly Sins: Lust also produced a nominee for Best sex Scene (Tony Acosta & Michael Brandon).

Other videos with multiple nominations include Sea Men: Fallen Angel 4 (Titan Media), which is up for 10 awards, including Best All-sex Video, Best Director (Bruce Cam), Best sex Scene (Adriano Marquez & Dred Scott) and Best Art Direction. The Back Row (Rascal Video), meanwhile, recorded nine nominations for Best Gay Video, Best Director (Chi Chi LaRue) and Best Videography, among several others. The Best Director nomination is LA Rue’s first for his new company.

The sleeper hit a Dream Come True (Rad Video) collected eight nominations, including Best Actor (Court Logan) and Best Director (Rick Lawrence).

Chad Hunt was nominated for Best Newcomer, Gay Performer of the Year and six times (out of 10 nominees) in the Best Group Scene category. Newcomer Jason Hawke also received Best Newcomer and Gay Performer of the Year nods, as well as Best Supporting Actor and Best sex Scene (with DC Chandler) for Studio 2000’s SuperCharge. Kevin Kramer received a nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Going Down and Cumming Out in Beverly Hills (Great Dane Productions). Popular performers Blake Harper, Jason Branch and Logan Reed each were nominated several times, including for Performer of the Year.
