(LOS ANGELES, CA) — At 6:00 pm January 9th at the Blue Note Cafe/Insomnia in Las Vegas huge lines started to form for The 2002 Consumer Choice Awards. I personally for a brief time stood across from the event in an empty parking lot next to the Harley Davidson Cafe and just watched. I decided I would take it all in from a different perspective as the event unfolded. Limousines and taxis were pulling up in front and adult stars were stepping out on to the red carpet one after another. [Please follow the link below to see the pictures from this event. -Ed.]
I noticed that Jill Kelly and her entourage were one of the first to arrive. My colleague Carl Drake was assigned by our publisher to cover the event from just outside the door of the Blue Note Cafe. Inside the Insomnia our very lovely columnist Julie Richfield and believe me or not on the door our publisher Steve Banan stood, even the man himself worked. It was his decision to bring to you our readers the finest coverage that we could provide, sort of play by play until the last available minutes in his hotel he was trying to coordinate and arrange with Clark County and Metro Police clearance for helicopter ariel photography.
Mike Rick and the KSEXradio.com staff including the one the only Wankus were there along with Diane Sawyer’s crew from ABC, Prime Time Live headed up by a friend our publisher he met at The Tera Patrick Show, Xcitement Magazine, Playboy, World of Entertainment, Sports and Business, 30 Second Films, Worth-A-Million Productions Adult Video News and many more.
Publisher Jeff Cartwright his wife Sandy Cartwright of Adult Stars Magazine, his editor Steve Seidman, Don Benn of TheSeXfiles.TV, world renown photographer Ken Marcus and the rest of the ASM staff covered there event form A to Z and left no stone unturned.
In the next limo to pull up are oh my god there’s Tera Patrick and her people. Luciano just walked past me so did director Clive McLean, best nominated actor Mark Davis. Brittany Andrews, I just can’t keep up with them. Here is my boss’ wife adult starlet and one my fellow columnist on the Network Nicole Moore. Calli Cox, Syren, Director Rob Baker and his lovely wife Dee. Mr. Patrick Collins just went in and directors Dale Jordan, Cory Jordan from Elegant Angel are on line. I played a game of lets guess who’s in the limo as they arrived. I did not get one right. Jill Kelly and her huge entourage arrived. When the doors opened one gorgeous blond after another exited from the limo and where swiftly escorted through the entrance doors by my boss Steve Banan. The VIP lines kept forming and the limos and Taxis kept arriving all night long. I could see Sin City’s Michael Raven, Evan Stone, Jessica Drake and publicist Jeff Woziak arrive. Here comes AIM Healthcare Founder Sharon Mitchell, The oldest man in porn, a contributing writer her at the Network, Dave Cummings and being escorted down the red carpet are Jacklyn Lick and Samantha Sterlyng.
Johnny Buss the son of Lakers legend Jerry Buss. Here comes another limo that’s Ron Jeremy, Houston and Metro publicist Harry Weiss. There I believe are people from New Sensations here. The president of AVN Paul Fishbein and many photographers just arrived. He’s shaking my publisher Steve Banan’s hand and he is being ushered in trough the doors.
I am just overwhelmed with all this action at one time. Diana DeVoe, Alexander DeVoe, Midori and her husband Johnny, male star Dale DaBone, Christi Lake, Shay Sights and Nick Manning are just arriving to name a few. I saw Kim Chambers her husband Scott Styles and Kira and Dan Reed. Male studs like Dino Bravo and Gino Greco represented the Italians.
As the stars, directors, producers and dignitaries come into the club they are ushered to their tables. Many in beautiful flowing gowns and other in simple relaxing kick back styles they all looked magnificent and ready for just a wonderful time. Sean Michaels just came by and there is I believe photographer Ken Marcus. Directly down in front of where I am standing I was told is make-up and wardrobe, interview rooms and the entrance on to the stage. Of course it was all under the watchful eyes of ASM’s security staff. This gentleman in a tux with red cheeks just walked by stopped dead in his tracks didn’t say anything smiled, just looked at me and moved on. I definitely thought he was somebody important due to the commands he was shouting at someone through his radio. Later I was informed that he was the editor of ASM Steve Seidman.
I have to tell you I was in shock just about the whole evening. I do a lot of reporting for the network mainstream and adult, I haven’t seen as many people having fun in one place for a very long time. Fabio just walked by me. When I said that a security man said that’s not Fabio. That’s better than Fabio, that’s Evan Stone. I told this man that the staff of Adult Stars Magazine seemed to have this show well in hand and running smoothly. You know when you get such a large crowd of VIP’s together your bound to have some kind of a problem he told me. I think we have taken every fail-safe precaution to make sure this will not happen.
I know this man who just walked by, Flashman, he writes a column for us. I tried to talk to him unfortunately he seemed like he was just having a wee bid of a great time (lushville) if you know what I mean. There is this gorgeous man who just sat down in front of me with a pretty blond. We were told no video photography or else I would of loved to show you this man.
My colleague, my friend and most of the time when my boss is not in her face just bout the nicest and down to earth women you will ever meet Nicole Moore put her hands across my eyes. Guess who! Briana Banks. Wrong try again. Of course she knows I’m happily married, but I just had to ask who that guy is over there. She exchanged words with who I thought was Jessica Drake, I could be wrong and then told me his name was Johnny Buss.
Don Benn and Angela Summers took the stage to present the Special Publishers Choice Award To Jill Kelly, Jewel De’Nyle, Dave Cummings, Nicole Moore, and Sean Michaels. Mr. Marcus, Dee. Ken Marcus, John Shin. Angela Summers, Kathy Willets, Flashman, James Bonn, Nikki Steele, Jason Sechrest and Steve Seidman.
Photographer Ken Marcus said he has been shooting photography for around thirty-five years shooting babies, weddings and Bar Mitzvah, but he has never had more fun in his life until he transferred into the adult industry.
Flashman accepted his award not with the overabundance of gab and promotion that we all have grown accustomed to, but just with a simple thank you very much. Don Benn’s announcement of this next recipient was noting less then remarkable.

The next lady to receive the publisher choice award is one of the most highly respected ladies in our industry. She has received every if not all lifetime achievement awards that our industry has to offer. She is a director, a producer and the founder of AIM Healthcare Ms. Sharon Mitchell. Ms. Mitchell told us that there is another life after pornography. You, just have to follow your dreams.
The next precipitant Nikki Steele who is best know for her spanking, tickling, enema and flogging adventures. She has appeared in such classics as "Legs Wide Open" Flogged by Fallen" "She Sluts" and "Highway Horse" arrived from the back of the stage to accept her award. Ms, Steele who was involved in an auto accident last month and was a little under the weather this evening accepted her award with style and grace becoming an adult starlet.
Nicole Moore was honored for her many contribution to Adult Stars Magazine. Last March she appeared on the Howard Stern Show. You can see her at Nudepainting in the Buff. She is involved in just about every charity and humanitarian event around. Nicole founded WP&A-Adult News as a break through email newsletter just to let her fellow talent and the industry know what was happening. She did not know when she began; it would grow to such a demand. She now sports close to 8,000,000 subscribers and it is the most read email in the industry. Some say that they wake up and go to sleep with it. Nicole simply accepted the award with a thank you going out to Adult Stars Magazine, Tim Goddard and her husband, the man that signs my check Steve Banan.
He is a gay and mainstream reporter, publicist for Jill Kelly and Brittany Andrews and MarriedCouple.com. Jason said that he thought he had to sleep with most of the people in the audience to get an award in the industry. You could see that he was so emotional upon receiving the award.
Jill Kelly was next up. She thanked ASM and her fans and told us all we are going to have one hell of a party very soon.
Jeff and Stacy Cartwright were asked to present the last publishers award of the evening. The ASM Lifetime Achievement Award to the editor of ASM Steve Seidman. My colleague Mat Drake is now inside, has just walked over to me and I will let him take it from here… It looks like our host and hostess for the evening are here Jill Kelly and Wankus.
As Wankus set a spell upon the crowd, it was plain to see where we were heading this evening. The man was incredible; from the onset he was working the crowd, a pure master entertainer and comedic genius. "Ain’t no party like a RJ party cause a RJ party don’t stop. Can’t hear you! Ain’t no party like a RJ party cause a RJ party don’t stop,” bellowed from Wankus mouth. What motherfucker is coming out here tonight? Someone yelled out Ron Jeremy. Wankus returned, you crazy motherfuckers Rick James that’s who.
The Mark Huff Band was the evening’s entertainment, I kind of like their music in a different sort of a way. Over the loud sound I asked people in the audience their impressions of the band, Wankus, the party and the awards show. One young lady who couldn’t keep her feet and hands from moving something likes a nervous response. I have to tell you this scared the hell out even me. I asked her what she thought of the show. She replied that there is nothing better then doing anal and this runs second. I guess she liked it.
Another couple in the industry said that the man up their Wankus is the best thing to ever hit radio Internet. One asked me how could he get to fuck Jill Kelly. I said if I knew that buddy I would be fucking Jill Kelly.
The audience really seemed to be having a fantastic time. There were smiles on the face of all who attended. I asked another male guest who was his favorite pornstar and who he wanted to get it on with. Well I wouldn’t mind Tyce Buné, is he here?
I asked these girls which pornstar in the room would they like to have a fling around the block with. They weren’t sure it was a toss up between Jessica Drake, Tera Patrick and Nicole Moore. Here we go again, isn’t anyone here into there own sex.
The Mark Huff Band concluded, Wankus and Jill took the stage once again to introduce the special guest of the evening Rick James. Wankus prepared the crowd with a little lip music and turned the stage over to the one and only Rick James.
Celebes like Tera Patrick, Sam Phillips and Nicole Moore were grooving to the bump of James. It sure looked like everyone in the house was having lots of fun.
