(CHATSWORTH, CA) — Elegant Angel Productions, voted Best Gonzo Company at the 2002 Adult Stars Magazine/Consumer’s Choice Awards, had one of their most productive shows ever at last week’s 2002 Adult Entertainment Expo at the Sands Convention Center in Las Vegas.
Patrick Collins, owner of Elegant Angel, stated that the new company image brought even more attention than he’d anticipated. “We have a newer, sexier, more approachable branding that both the consumers and press were very receptive to. We were pleasantly overwhelmed at times due to the attention that our booth generated this year.”
Not only did the company win the ASM/Consumer Choice Award, it also garnered AVN Awards for Best All-sex Video (Buttwoman Iz Bella), Best Ethnic-Themed Video (Freakazoids), and Best All-Girl sex Scene/Video (Where the Girls Sweat 5).
The Elegant Angel booth, a two-story structure with a dance stage at the top, was so popular that the show security threatened to shut it down due to the Fire Marshall’s concerns. “The crowds were so large that they were blocking traffic in the aisles surrounding our booth, and in the next two to three aisles away from our booth,” said company publicist, Mitzi Connett. “We did our best to work with the show’s security in controlling the crowd. Apparently. A fight broke out between two fans diving for the same Elegant Angel shirt”.
When the performers took to the stage, the crowd went completely out of control. Those signing at the booth-Belladonna, Alexandra Quinn, Sabrina Johnson, Calli Cox, Daisy Chain, Lacey Duvalle, Ice, and Phoenix Ray – were also threatened with citations for ‘lewd behavior’ said Connett. “We were told the girls were not allowed to ‘simulate sex’ or ‘touch each other below the neck’ (even while clothed), which seemed arbitrarily decided upon as a last ditch effort at ‘crowd control’…. While far more graphic play was allowed to be depicted on monitors throughout the show! I think next year the show must approach crowd control with the understanding that it is not the ‘simulated -sex’ nor the ‘bare breast’, but the adoration and anticipation of the fans that has to be considered. We are there to make the experience a memorable one for the fans. Their safety may have to be better thought out by the shows organizers. We have some thoughts of our own on this and would appreciate the input of all concerned so that these problems don’t re-occur next year.”
Despite all the changes that were made to avoid prosecution, the girls continued to whip the crowd into a frenzy during the rest of the show by dancing, and handing out t-shirts, movies, and Elegant Angel Records CD’s to the screaming fans. Directors Dale and Corey Jordan, Alex Ladd, and the infamous photographer William H. Nutsack III were also on hand to get the crowd moving. The company received a tremendous amount of mainstream coverage, which included national and international television stations as well as being filmed for several documentaries.
Robert Connett, new General Manager of Elegant Angel, was thrilled with the amount of sales that were generated by the booth. “We broke all previous records regarding sales this year,” said Robert. “Of course we see many of our returning customers, yet, we picked up many, many new ones. We had all of the right people in the right places to make this show the best we’ve ever had. We are extremely pleased with the successful results that we achieved in every aspect of the show.”
“This is just the beginning … added Collins. “We have a lot of plans in place that we are very excited about. We Believe people are becoming anesthetized to what’s currently available in the adult market.”
Our new slogan says it best, “Elegant Angel… still Smokin’ after all these years…”
