It’s the beginning of yet another new year, and I wish the best of all possible happiness, good fortune, and health for everyone during All of 2002, and well beyond!
Since my normal monthly column won’t be written until I return from the January “adult” events in Las Vegas, I thought I’d jot down a few ramblings as an interim column of sorts.
Not that anyone cares, but for 2002 I’m resolving to lose enough weight to comfortably fit into the same military uniform I wore when I retired from the United States Army in 1988; I’m going to cut down on chocolates, thus hopefully eliminating some of the pimples I tend to get on my face (there just doesn’t seem to be any rewards for growing old-I’m going to be 62 the month after next, yet I still have to contend with “chocoholic” pimples! Also, although I no longer have hair growing on top of my head, aging is giving me lots of unwanted hair in and on my ears and nose–yuk!). And, yes, I’m going to avoid cookies, except of course for my annual civic duty to buy lots of Girl Scout cookies from every youngster knocking at my door or selling them at the malls! I’m resolving to plaster myself with sun block when I go into the sun, to stop fantasizing about every college girl I see around San Diego, to spend more time with my children and grand-children, to continue the recent expansion of www.davecummings.com, and to provide a meaningful contribution to adult videos being released in 2002!
Speaking of cookies, during the holidays I ran across some great cooks within the Industry. For example, on a recent “Night Calls 411” set at Playboy Television, Juli Ashton stopped by with some yummy chocolate fudge she had made for the crew and cast, Flower made delicious cookies for us, and Tera Partick baked and decorated some great holiday cookies. Talk about tasty morsels!!!!
During the recent holidays, I felt a special place in my heart for the folks at the area military bases around San Diego. Because I frequently use the barbershops (hey, stop laughing-indeed, I still have 3-4 pieces of hair growing behind my ears!), officer’s clubs, commissaries and exchanges, and other facilities, I get to see the military members and families who sacrifice much so that we may enjoy continued freedom. I see the pilots and service members who train and prepare for their upcoming duties in the Middle East. I see the wives and children of the Marines who are deployed on/near the front lines. All of these fine folks, as well as the many who are in support roles, are true heroes who sacrifice much for all of us. Having been assigned to Vietnam, I had to leave a wife and two infant children while I served there, so I understand the burdens our military families endure for us. Let’s all continue to remember, respect, and pray for our military, our safety and law enforcement folks, our government officials, and our President as we enter 2002 in pursuit of a better world. Freedom is precious, families are the bedrock of society, and our responsibilities to support our strategic and national values is important towards making 2002 a year of real and lasting progress for world peace and happiness.
Let’s all value our Nation, our Constitution, our families, and our freedoms as we venture forth into 2002!
