(ATLANTA, GA) — The man who originally opened the Gold Club in Atlanta, pre Steven Kaplan has designs on buying it and reopening it as a Playboy Gentlemen’s Club.
John Kirkendoll, who now resides in Colorado purchased the Gold Club in the 1980’s, and now owns a chain of Gold Clubs nationwide. The thought of the club reopening as a strip club surprised few, but Playboy clubs have not been in existance in this country for over a decade. The federal government currently owns the club, and even Kirkendoll estimates the possibility of him getting involved with the property again at about 50/50.
A group or neighbors joining together to form a coalition are planning to oppose the opening of another strip club on the property. They contend that any application or liquor license for a strip club would be scrutinized with a large magnifying glass.
