(MALIBU, CA) — Wicked Pictures’ contract stars Devinn Lane, Sydnee Steele, Brad Armstrong, and Jonathan Morgan were among the adult industry performers filming yesterday in Home Movie, a 35mm mainstream short directed by internationally acclaimed artist & filmmaker Mark Lewis.
An eight-acre seaside ranch was the location for the day long shoot, which found the Wicked performers sharing screen time with Julia Ann, Kristal Summers, Dee, Nikita Denise, Kim Chambers, Solveig, Syn, Scott Styles, Steve Hatcher, and Tiger. Wicked Pictures VP of Public Relations and Special Projects Joy King was instrumental in helping Lewis’ production team cast the film entirely with performers from the adult arena.
Asked today about his unique casting choices, the director candidly reveals, “I wanted to use adult film actors because I want to pick up on the sense of ambition they have. I’m extremely impressed by the sense of professionalism and patience these people brought to the set.”
According to Lewis, the story providing the backbone to Home Movie is derived from Liebestod, the final love scene from Wagner’s Tristan And Isolde. While he may not be using the music on the final soundtrack, he says that the score has informed both the planning and pace of the film.
Home Movie will have a final running time of approximately seven minutes, and will play internationally in museum installations devoted to multi-media art. To date, bookings have been confirmed in Nice, France (where the project was commissioned by the Museum of Contemporary Art), with dates in London and New York pending.
Reflecting on his personal hybrid of avant garde art and adult film celebrity, Lewis concludes, “Home Movie isn’t exploitative. I just want to deal with that sense of compromise that is often necessary in order to survive in a place like Los Angeles.”
