(VAN NUYS, CA) — For the first time since its inception four years ago, The Cypress Hill Smoke Out– the acclaimed West Coast day-long celebration of hip-hop, rock and electronica–is hitting the road. In addition to the yearly Columbus Day weekend celebration in San Bernardino, the Smokeout will reach out to the Bay Area as well as Hawaii.

Jill Kelly Productions, with the inclusion of DVD Empire and The Erotic Networks, will be the exclusive adult sponsor for the tour this year. Jill Kelly states, “Upon meeting B-Real, and the creators of the event, we felt this would be a great opportunity for our company to expand and reach out to those who may not be familiar with our girls, and our product.” Fans of Jill Kelly Productions will be able to meet JKP’s starlets and receive autographs from the JKP booth. The JKP girls will also be on stage providing give-aways, introducing bands, and performing meet-and-greets with artists back stage.

JKP’s starlets Dayton, Tabitha, Haven and Jill will go live on radio station Power 106 (KPWR-FM) with DJ Felly Fell tonight to make this announcement. DJ Felly Fell will be giving away special JKP gift packs, plus a very special grand prize, to be announced starting at 7:00PM, with the girls joining Felly Fell on the air at 10:30pm.

True to its adventurous spirit, the SMOKEOUT will explode this year with some of the most cutting-edge and fearless artists in the music world appearing on multiple stages: Cypress Hill, Deftones, Busta Rhymes, Redman, Method Man, Erick Sermon & Keith Murray, Suicidal Tendencies, Fear Factory, Afroman, Long Beach Dub Allstars, Pennywise, Guttermouth, Kottonmouth Kings, NOFX, Armand Van Helden, DJ Sneak, Z-Trip, and DJ Swamp, and Korn’s C-minus. Says B-Real of Cypress Hill, “We know we’ve got something good, but we don’t want to spread it out too much right now. We’re doing three [major] markets this year, and maybe next year we’ll do five or ten; after that, maybe a full-blown national tour.” “Guerilla Union Events is proud to have JKP on board as an official sponsor this year. Via the 5 million flyers, posters, print-ad buys, and radio co-ops in all three markets, JKP will benefit from a major mainstream branding campaign,” according to Brian Applegate, production manager for the SMOKEOUT. “The SMOKEOUT demographic is a core urban collective brought together for 14 hours by way of music. We have made the obvious decision to formally co-brand with an adult company, as opposed to just letting various companies vend or bring their girls out, since it is clear to us that adult film is a natural part of the lexicon for this demo. In addition to the street-level promotions, and on-site presence, we will also be lending our air time on the major radio stations in these markets to the JKP girls; thus, bringing the JKP brand deeper into the mainstream,” says Applegate.

Until recently, THE CYPRESS HILL SMOKEOUT was an event attended mostly by Los Angeles locals. Within a year of its 1998 debut, the SMOKEOUT had grown into the largest single-day music festival on the West Coast, with last year’s attendance in excess of 60,000 fans, as noted by the Los Angeles Times. Past SMOKE OUT artists have included Limp Bizkit, System Of A Down, 311, Xzibit, Pennywise, Erick Sermon, Dilated Peoples, Funky Tekno Tribe, Zebrahead, (hed)pe, Gang Starr and others.
