(NEW YORK, NY) — Playboy Enterprises Inc., the adult entertainment media firm, on Monday named James Dimonekas as publisher of the company’s flagship Playboy magazine.
The company said Dimonekas will be responsible for the U.S. edition of Playboy as well as Playboy-branded books, calendars and special editions. He will report to former publisher Michael Carr, now the president of Playboy Publishing Group.
Hugh Hefner, Playboy’s flamboyant founder, is the magazine’s editor-in-chief.
Dimonekas’ promotion comes a week after Playboy Enterprises said it would purchase three erotic television networks — The Hot Network, The Hot Zone and Vivid TV — for a total of about $70 million.
Shares of Playboy were down 54 cents, or 2.9 percent, to $18.12 on the New York Stock Exchange in afternoon trading. The stock has ranged from $9.44 to $19.58 in the past year.
