Go-Go’s vocalist Belinda Carlisle is featured in the buff in the August issue of Playboy. The 42-year-old frontwoman told the magazine that her full figure ultimately inspired her to step before the cameras.
"It wasn’t until the Go-Go’s that my name was synonymous with plump, cute, and chubby," Carlisle says. "One of the things I thought was appealing about the Go-Go’s was that we weren’t models–we were normal girls doing it on our own terms, and women loved that."
Meanwhile, Carlisle, with clothes on, will join her band on the road for more touring in support of their latest album, God Bless The Go-Go’s. The storied all-woman group will begin the tour July 3 in Minneapolis and is currently planning on playing at least 30 dates through the end of August.
Guitarist-songwriter Charlotte Caffey told LAUNCH what the most messed-up thing is about being on tour. "People look at the life of a rock star as glamorous. Well, it may appear that way, and I am not complaining. We are very grateful doing what we’re doing, and especially doing this record and all that crap. It’s, like, the actual traveling part of it can be kind of fucked up because it’s very repetitive. You’ve got to really not lose it."
