On April 9 – 14th, 2001, I spent a week in beautiful Los Cabo’s, Mexico. During my stay, I visited four strip clubs, one being the hospitable Lord Black. Unlike Vegas, when you are seated in a Mexican strip club, the dancers are hesitant to approach you. As a girl it took a few visits for them to warm up to the idea, that I was in to enjoy ‘the show’, just as much as the men were.
At Lord Black I found up to 15 dancers working the floor at a time. This may not sound like many, but for a club seated no more then 30 ‘local’ customers at a time, it was more then enough. Why do I say ‘local’, and how could this be enough entertainment to go around? With the majority of the men seated around me being Mexican, and the average income each year being $2000.00 USD, a $20.00 dance is a nice splurge.
The dancers were from various area’s of Mexico, and most spoke only broken English. The staff were often the translators. Each girl would dance on stage for two songs, wearing a simple outfit made of lingerie or swimwear, and platform heels. Dyed blonde hair was a popular trend, as they love the look a typical Californian girl has. Needless to say, I received a lot of compliments from the girls, and offers to ‘strut my stuff’ on their stage. I didn’t bring my heels to the Lord Black that week, however I did treat Mermaids to a show. Check back soon, to hear all about it!
