(WARRENDALE, PA) — The winners have been announced and the trophies have been given out. Now that the 2000 Empire Awards are over, the porn industry will never be the same. Adult DVD Empire talked to some of the big winners, and collected some of their comments about this year’s awards ceremony.
VCA Interactive took home the most trophies, five total. Wit Maverick of VCA commented on their honors, "This recognition means a lot to all of us at VCA Interactive. It is an honor to be distinguished by the reviewers and fans for both the quality of our work on projects like "White Lightning" and the effort we put into every title to merit the nod as Best Studio. Thank you to everyone at the Empire for sponsoring these awards and all who participated in the voting and presentation. We are definitely inspired to putt out better and bigger discs in 2001."
The Empire also talked to David Crawford of Wicked Studios, who won four awards including the Viewers’ Choice Award for "Dream Quest", which also tied with VCA’s "White Lightning" for Best Feature. Crawford said, "we’re very honored for the awards, especially the Viewers’ Choice Award. That one really tells us that we’re doing something right."
Digital Playground, makers of the infamous "Virtual Sex" series, walked away with three awards including the esteemed All-Time Bestseller for "Bodyslammin’ 2" and of course, Best Interactive for "Virtual Sex with Tera Patrick". Joone, the director of all of the Virtual Sex titles and All Star, had this to say, "I would like to thank everyone at Adult DVD Empire for recognizing our contribution to DVD technology. The 2000 Empire Awards reflect the beginning of a new era. These awards will set the standard for future DVD releases and simultaneously push the adult industry to create superior products."
